Why do you believe in God?

Why do you believe in god? If you don't, why? I grew up believing in God because my parents did. We would go to church every morning, pray at the table, and count our blessings. As I matured and grew up however, I started to not believe in Him anymore. I've been exposed to the science and it's hard to still believe when you have evolution and stuff. Not only that, the idea of an almighty being seems less and less logical to me everyday. What do you guys think?

i like to think that i dont beliebe in god, but i find myself in times of desperation praying to him, and appologising but the dis-belief i have pretended to have... i think that some people genuinly believe in god but other people say they dont but in times when they have no one else to turn to they believe for a short period of time

Growing up I was told, believe in God, go to church, pray. That didn't make sense to me. I now know God personally. I now know that if you have to ask me if I have a personal relationship with God, you don't. I know that if humanity is better off because you were in it you will experience total love and only love in the after life. Thanks for bringing it up!

I'm saddened to hear that you've chucked the faith your parents introduced you to. I'd be even disappointed if it's the Christian faith you'd left. If so, it tells me Christians are doing a poor job of educating their own. I believe in God, simply because He's there. You point to science as an argument against Him, when it actually proves there's an intelligent Being responsible for the stuff that science measures. Even science itself is proof of God. The sciences and mathematics point to Someone having designed creation, in Earth and beyond.

Hi boxesftl, I know what you mean but I think that most people have the wrong idea about God. There is no old man in the sky kind of God, there is no heaven where people set around playing harps all day. I believe that God is within us and that we are all one with each other and one with God. I have little time for organized religion as it divides rather than unites people. I consider life itself to be prayer as actions always speak louder than words. I believe in God because I believe in people for God is the sum total of all that is. Blessings

I believe in God because He is everything for me. Without God, it is very difficult to lead a happy and peaceful life. He knows our pains and sufferings. He can do miracles in our life. Without God nothing is possible. All the blessings are from heaven. We get healing physically and mentally through prayer. So we should pray every day.

ALLAH GOD THE ALMIGHTY is the on the only. In Islam we were told that ALLAH is all seeing all listening and all and all. Allah is a being that you cannot imagine think or equal and compare to anything. Allah is what you worship with iman with whole of your heart, soul and being. Just think if you see, hear, imagine or even think of something to be your god, is it GOD. You are putting your beliefs on a thing, something. But in ALLAH you cannot equal him to anything since he is your iman. Now days people live in a logical world. Logic runs supreme. what is logic? isn't it something that you think of, you see, you feel you touch. Then can you used it in iman?

Whether we believe in God or not, neither side can be scientifically prove what they believe. Even Science as great is it may be can, by strict scientific method prove that there is or is no God. And, on other hand, those of us who believe that God is, cannot prove directly that he does not exist.
