I'm curious about this, and I don't know who I can ask to. What 1 cent and/or 1 dollar means in US? I really don't know. I give you a comparison. In my country, with 9000 IDR or 1 dollar, you can buy a pack of good cigarette. With 1 Dollar. you can buy modest food to eat, two or once a day. But with 1 cent, you can buy almost nothing. Well, tell me what that means in US? What can you do with 1 cent and/or 1 dollar? Thanks!

I'm from Canada and I can tell you this, you can't get nothing for a penny and very very little for $1. I'm pretty sure the United States is the same. Here in Canada a pack of smokes goes for $7.50 to $10 maybe more in other provinces. A average tank of gas is between $20-40, a can of Pepsi about $1.25 in most corner stores. So ya in our countries we can't get as much for a dollar as you can from your country.

I don't really know as I live in the United Kingdon. It would be nice to understand what gets what with dollars and cents, although I suspect that it's just like England. Penny - Cent and Pound - Dollar. Here there's not many things you can get for a £1. You can only get sweats, basic food such as milk and even that can be hard. You could at least expect to add another 60 pence to make a single purchase as it all depends on where you shop.

I may not be the right person to answer this for I do not come from the United States. Anyway, I just want to share my views on this as $1 is quite big to me in our local currency. With $1, I can already by a kilo of rice and viand.

1 dollar equals 100 cents. You can't get much for a dollar here anymore. 1 cents no one bothers with any more, unless you are a coin collector.

To show comparison, US$1= Php 44 more or less, not enough to buy burger meal in a fast food :)
