Yes, it's important to sleep in a dark room. It helps with melatonin or something...I hate when people leave the TV on while they sleep. My sister would leave her TV on while she slept and I could hear it from the other room and when I turn it off sometimes she would wake up.

the thing you said that she wakes up when u turn off the tv is very funny....firstly you have to go to that room and then turn off the tv and at the same time she wakes up lol....i have a question what does she do to sleep back i mean does she turn the tv on again????

No, she doesn't turn the TV back on. She just goes back to sleep.

I tend to sleep with the television in my bedroom on. I just don't feel comfortable sleeping in the complete darkness. My husband, on then other hand, does prefer it to be completely dark. It is not uncommon for him to wait unitl I am asleep then turn off the telelvision so he can go to sleep, and then for me to wake up in the middle of the night and turn it back on. It is a silent battle between us. HA-HA

hi abj I am here in the US in California where earthquakes happen all the time. seems the hardest of the quakes always strike early the morning I guess to shake us up.lol.I cannot sleep with a lot of light in my room.I have have it to be dark and I mean without outside light. My roomie keeps waking me up with she goes out in the night by leaving the door open to the hall and the hall light wakes me..

i sleep alone in my room with doors closed so i dont face the problem of lights from outer space....but sometimes my parents come to my room in midnight and checks whether i slept well or not and they dont pull the door totally and due to this light comes in room which irritates me and disturbs my sleep.......

Hi,
When I was young, I used to sleep with dim light on
as I scared of darkness, but now, I used to sleep in darkness.
With some light on, It is hard for me to sleep.Only if
I feel very tired, then I can sleep with light on.
But one thing for sure, I scare of darkness and If i were to
be at home alone at night, I will choose to sleep with light on.

I really can't sleep with light on because it feels warmer and usually makes me sweat because it gets hotter and hotter over time. I can only sleep when the light is off, and even if it's day time, I have to get my window all covered if I wanted to go to sleep or have rest.

Yes, I can't actually sleep soundly at night when I see lights. So I prefer total darkness. But when I am sleeping in someone else's bedroom, better for me to have even just a little bit of light since I am still uncomfortable with the environment. Regarding the earthquake, how sad to know.

Well sleeping is a habit. Most of us find it comfortable to sleep in the darkness. But unfortunately the same is not true here. I like to sleep with dim lights on. I acquired this habit from my childhood because I would read books at night.

I can't sleep with my lights on. It just doesn't happen for me. I could lay there all night long if the light is on. But if I were living in a place that had earthquakes I think it might be a different story. I would be scared to sleep with the lights off then.
I have fallen asleep on the couch with the TV and lights on but when I wake up I have to turn them all off or I can't fall back to sleep. I will go to bed, then go back to sleep, not on the couch again.
Good luck and happy mylotting my friend,
Chris

I don't mind sleeping in total darkness, but I usually leave a couple of really dim lights on in the house at night so that the dogs will have some light to go to their food and water if they want to. I don't like leaving them in the dark all night...

I can sleep regardless of light or dark. I don't work at night so I sleep during that time. I lived in California for a time so I got to experience an earthquake. I shook my bed hard enough for me to wake up but nothing became of it. I went back to sleep and then next day I started talking about it but it was so common most people didn't even think anything about it. Weird.

Yep, I do love sleeping in dark at night. I even can't sleep before I shut the lamp down. When everything goes blank, that's the right moment to close the eyes. It happens to me when I sleep under the bright lamp. Suddenly, the electricity went out. In this blackout I wake up and so shocked seeing anything is dark. I thought I was dying, lol. Then I realize that it was just a blackout, lol!

I prefer to sleep longer in dark rooms, I struggle when the lights on but my wife doesn't like the dark so we have a light on near here. I'm fairly used to it, although I would prefer it to be off myself I respect her and it doesn't really bother me. Recently we've had to keep it off due to an issue we have, so I've managed to get to sleep quicker but I hope to resolve it soon.

I love to sleep only in the dark.Even if I want to take a nap in the afternoon, I see to it that all the windows and doors are closed, so that it is quite dark. In the night I sleep even without a night lamp. usually my wife likes to have a night lamp, and invariably I switch it off after she falls asleep.

Yeah, I would say that I enjoy sleeping in the dark, I guess most people do. If I'm not really THAT tired, I might have a hard time falling a sleep if there is a lot of light in the room. However, most of the time I can sleep both with the lights on, and with the lights off. I still like sleeping in a dark room more than sleeping with the lights on.
When I was a kid I didn't really like to sleep in a complete dark room. And yet, too much light would irritate me. My bed stood very near to the door to the room with my parents computer. There were always light in that room till my parents went to bed. Therefore, what I did was, that I opened that door just a little bit, and then went to bed. That's a very long time ago though. I was 5 maybe 6 years old at that time.
