How Can We Truly Protect Our Children These Days?

Scary question for many parents especially new parents. It use to be all we ever really had to worry about is stranger danger but things have change so badly it is down right scary. For example, children are constantly going missing after befriending and meeting strangers on Facebook. That site alone in the past 5 years has been responsible for bringing children and young teenagers into the eyes of killers. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying Facebook is responsible but they are sure helping and fueling the problem. Also what about these kids who keep going to their schools shooting the places up and injuring and killing innocent kids. Then you got the diddlers and molesters and kidnappers and the list just seems to keep growing. I personally believe there is no possible way to keep them a hundred percent safe unless we lock them in a room away from the world. My question is to all the parents or soon to be parents, how do we protect our children these days? Is it impossible? Almost kind of seems like it
