why do a lot of people love GOSSIP?

Gossip is a form of conversation that requires next to no thinking, next to no intellect, and next to no education. That is why gossip is the stuff of those who do not have a lot of stimulation in the world, or have allowed their minds to regress.
Some people would just gossip because of JEALOUSY to the person involved that is why he or she will try her best to put the other person down or ruin the person.
My friend who is loving gossip all the time but really intellectual would say gossip is the glue which binds society together. Without gossip, we would have no way of knowing who was trustworthy and who is not so we would have to presume untrustworthy. With gossip in all its forms, we exchange notes and form a collective opinion of everybody else. And then decide what is true about the person and what is just a pure gossip as well. It is like an information leaked and it is up to you to believe it or not about that interesting person. Then it will be up to you if you will be the end line or you will be a medium of transmission to other listeners as well or other medium of transmission too.
So guys, what do you think is the reason why people love to do this or just do this gossiping thing?

I agree to "gossip is a fun way to socialise".
Sometimes we just want to start a conversation, say something and know what has happened to certain people.
When jealousy is involved, people would say something bad about a person to make themselves feel good. This is what I learnt from my classmate ;)

Jealousy is one of the root cause why people do gossips. Along with it there are things being added to the true information being spread and that will really change the whole true situation. When you are jealous or feeling envious about one person then most likely you will do something that would ruin that person. There are a lot of people who are like that around us. I think that gossip is like a pestilence or disease that quickly spreads and infects others! Those that indulge in it don't realise the damage that their actions cause! They either like hurting others with their sharp words or they lack the intelligence to think first prior to walking down this controversial road!
I think that everyone is different anyway. I personally don't like taking part in any kind of gossip! I suppose it can also be classed as small talk! Small talk helps to break the ice as it were in terms of beginning conversations with others. I think that it's sometimes funny when I'm on a bus and I hear the conversation of a couple perhaps that are talking so loud for the whole world to hear, they are bickering about this and bickering about that and there seems no end to it! Exactly! But if this is like a disease then it should be cured instantly! We should stop the disease from spreading out before it can really hard the people who is involved with the gossip. Thank you for sharing.

Yep - gossiping is like taking a bag of feathers and spreading them in the wind- you can't bring them back.
If you gossip about others, others will gossip about you. Indeed you're right on that.

Because too much info that comes to your mind is really much so you need to unload those feelings. And you are unloading it through talking to other people. It's fine that you admit it but let us all be careful because what will be able to do if we found ourselves being the topic of the gossip already?

i wonder, too. hehe. nah....in our village as early as dawn you will see people going to other people's houses for gossips and even late at night you can still see them. when i do my projects in our terrace, i see them gossiping and worse that every time i pass by they ask where i am going and when i go home they ask where i went. duh....annoying.

you are right that gossip does not have to do with intellectual capacities of people. this could also be one of the reasons that gossip is rampant with everyone because it does not make use of one's intellect. anyone and everyone can involve in gossip. another thing i feel is the human tendency of doing things that they are prohibited from doing. gossip is mostly stuff that people should restrict to themselves. but people do just the opposite and gossip about it.

You really got it. That is why a lot of people will do it because they are tired of thinking logically and would just do it because they will not exert extra effort thinking of what to say unless they invent some things up with a person. It's really hard though. hehehe.
Yes, doing things that we are not suppose to do is the most exciting thing to do. But gossip and spreading rumors are already a part of the society so we cannot do something about that unless there would be a law regarding spreading gossips. Thank you for sharing.

I definitely agree that it is one of the bad habits which is hard to stop. They find joy from it so you won't be able to stop a person doing it if he or she finds pleasure in doing those kind of things. Thank you for sharing.

gossips is a way of life that people love to do. People love to be connected and be involved. This is a form of social communications as well as sharing one's thoughts. Facebooks is a kind of intellectual gossiping.Online chatting is can be a source of gossips and yet all types of people are enjoying and doing it. I guess it is how you look at it makes the big difference.

i think almost everyone are gossiping and talking behind smeones back its become the worlds culture everywhere you go you find ppl gossiping. i love gossiping but i hate being gossiped.

You will have a dose of your own medicine if you continue to participate spreading gossips. Most likely you would really feel bad if you were going to be the topic of the gossip from the people who you are sharing the gossips from other people as well. You are right, it does not need any intellect. To discuss about something you need to know the background but when somebody is gossiping, people still participate just by nodding and agreeing to things.
In a way you friend might be right. When there is no gossip probably you might never even know who you neighbour is.
We used to stay in an apartment where there 14 flats. Nobody even knew each other. There was nothing to gossip about. Most of them were working(I mean husband and wife), so hardly anybody had time to.
They had little time for themselves forget about their neighbours. :)

Because gossip is the easiest type of conversation one can be involved with, with or with out the knowledge on the topic or about the person. It is because in gossip, one can speculate things. Bad thing is most people are involve in bad gossip, right. Where the things one's saying is totally just a hearsay and no evidence at all. Better if the gossip is healthy for one's life. Because gossip is still a way of communication, spreading good news can be a gossip also. It's just that we can call it a good gossip. However, we are used to gossip that are judgmental. I just hope that everyone can be just involve in good gossip. Example of good gossip. Let's talk about our Creator and Savior..and spread the good news!

Well if you talk about spiritual things as a gossip then a lot of people will get bored with this. I do not really know why? It is a good news that you are spreading then why would people just do not take it seriously? I really have to agree with you vangie. Thank you for this nice response.
