What happens to the waste detergent?

detergent wastes disposed of through the sewer lines, or other waterways .. what will happen to waste detergent and how it impacts the environment? thanks

Even if detergents affect the environment I don't think it will be as destructive as pollution. It will have little to no effect to humans but the smaller creatures that live on the soil may have inconvenience. The victims I see are the small insects.
