Are you saved and assured of a room in heaven?

When one of my friends suddenly died a year ago I realized how short and brittle life is. "Here today, gone tomorrow." Since my friend was healthy and showed no sign of getting off the early "flight" back "home", the impact was profound. All of a sudden my perspective of life changed and along with it my priorities. I started asking myself, if I die today will I be with God or end up somewhere else? The thought of being some place else disturbs me, so the urge to be with God in heaven, when the time come, is now stronger than before. I read many books about salvation, the kingdom of God (heaven) and related subjects, and I found out there are diverse explanations on those subjects. According to one line of thought, the Kingdom of God (Heaven) is within us not in a distant outer space location. The Kingdom of God can be enjoyed right this present if we live a righteous existence. Others teach the traditional concept of heaven. Now, I am a bit torn between two contending line of thoughts. What do you think is the best to believe?

Hi jasonnaez, There is no heaven or hell in the sense that most people think of it. If you give it some thought you will see the absurdity of such an idea. We are spiritual beings having a human experience and we continue to live in spiritual form after this body is of no more use to us. We know very little about what follows but it seems logical that we will continue to grow and there will be work for us to do. I think that we have probably lived many lives on this earth before and it's likely we will return again until we are ready to move on to the next dimension. After all one life only gives us an idea about one aspect of life and that is what we are experiencing right now, in the culture and race, as well as the time in history in which we find ourselves. Life is all about learning who we really are, and most of us have little idea of that. Blessings.
