And again...

I got mistaken for someone who "hasn't had children yet". This happens quite often because there are quite a few kids in our conservation group and I get on well with all of them. Often someone assumes that at least one of them must be mine because they will come to me with any request or problem. When they discover that none of the kids are mine and that I don't have any they'll say "oh, but you'll have all that to come" and I'm like "No thanks, I don't want a teenager in my house when I'm in my fifties" and then they are genuinely shocked when they find out I'm at least ten years older than they assumed. Seriously, I'm old enough to be a grandmother! Have you found that quite a few of the childfree are younger looking and acting than parents of the same age?

I never bring up children in conversations. I know how I feel about children and I know how others may feel about children. Some people have lost children, some people can't have children, and some people had to give up their children for adoption or let someone else raise them. Whenever my step-sister bring up marriage and children in conversations, I feel like I want to scream sometimes because I can't have children and I don't know if I will ever get married. My advice, don't bring it up unless they bring it up. Bring up other things. Children and marriage aren't everything in this world.

It's definitely no surprise that we childfree tend to look younger than those with kids. We have a LOT less stress to deal with and we all know that stress tends to age us. As far as acting one's own age, that all varies on personality and everything.

I was 18 when i had my first son & 38 when i had my 2nd one. I have been blessed to have them both & never thought about my age. Children are a blessing no matter what age u have them. Wish i had a bunch more.

I hadn't thought about it but that seems true. Having kids and raising them causes alot of stress and straind and may age people more than not having children. Life is busy when you have kids and you usually don't get alot of rest. This can cause us to have aged more quickly than if we didn't have kids to run after and care for.

I have found that to be true, except for my oldest sister. She has two children and at 60 and could easily pass for 40.
