How old do you think is too old for Trick or Treating

I hate when I hear people say "No candy you are too old" Why is there an age limit. I have always figured if you are willing to dress up and come to my door I will give you candy. I would rather that then them going out and getting in trouble. It should be something fun that you can do with your friends. Now you must dress up that is the rule. I know one year it was down to the older kids the younger ones had gone home and I was about done. This one girl came to the door she was older but she was dressed up and poor thing she had a broken arm. She was sweet as could be and guess what she was my lucky trick or treater that year. When I am done last one to the door gets the rest of the bowl. She was so happy and I felt good it really made her night I could tell she had been turned away a lot. So tell me what do you consider to old to trick or treat and how do you know how old kids are there are a lot of kids that are pretty big for their age these days.

I went out last year with my husband on a dare, and I was surprised at how well we did.
Only a few people realized that we weren't kids, and that was really only the kids that were out that noticed it.
We acted like kids when we were out, but we didn't care. We were never turned away at any house we went to, even if others noticed how big and old we were, they never said anything.
They only commented that they liked our costumes.
I think though, once you hit your teenage years, you'd be too old for this, as it's mainly for younger children. It helps teach them responsibility regarding not pigging out on the treats they bring home.
But adults shouldn't partake in this unless they're going to give the candy away to kids later.

That is too funny that you guys went out. I would have love to see it. It is good that you had fun and it makes me happy that you weren't turned away. It is a fun holiday and we should have fun with it. Wouldn't it be funny if adults went trick or treating I wounder what people would pass out then, that could get a little strange I think.

We got cans of pop, full sized chocolate bars, pencils and erasers, and a bunch of change.
It has changed a lot since I was a kid, the last time I went out was over 17 years ago.

I have never gotten a can of pop and either has my daughter. I am glad not to many people do this as it would really make the bags really heavy. Last year with my daughter was the first time I had been in a really long time. Before having my daughter I really enjoyed handing out the candy. I always try to get the good stuff but you never know what people like.

Yeah, I am getting around to that age as well. I haven't trick-or-treated in a while though.

A lot of people enjoy eating Halloween candy. they don't have to go trick or treating to get it. Trick or treating door to door should be left for the younger children. When the teen years approach, it's time to think about different alternatives to enjoy.

To me it is not the candy but the dressing up and having a good time it is fun to go door to door. My daughter favorite part is meeting all the people.

During my younger days, never had this kind of experience. Because its not really our culture to have this Trick or Treating during Halloween. But as the years goes by and as I got older I usually heard this trick or treat even in our school to the one I am working with. They have this kind of activity. Just to answer your questions. I guess the age for old to have a trick or treat is when you turn 1 st year high school its about 13 - 14 yrs old. Once you started your high school life this would not be your thing anymore. But some schools are doing this during on the 6th grade so it ok as long as you are still on your 6th grade.

Usually it is the older kids like 13 or 14 that are turned away and it is just sad it is just a fun holiday. A day to dress up and have fun, trick or treating is just part of the fun.

i saw a banner somewhere in a mall that trick or treat event is only for kids below 12 yrs old. i also think that there should be no age limit as long as you are dressed up. trick or treat is for fun and no one should take it away from them. trick or treat is for everyone!

It depends, because where I used to live we'd get no trick or teaters. So, me or my mom would just make a good bag for the kids that lived in the apartment building. Here it's a mix. Sometimes we get a lot, and some years just few kids come. So, if a lot of kids were coming, I'd put a cut offlimit at teenagers. I'm sorry, but if my candy is limited I'm giving it to babies. Small children are supposed to trick or treat. If you're an adult, and alone, it's weird and you can afford your own candy. If you're an adult it's ok to dress up, but not to beg for candy. If I have a lot of candy, though, I'll probably give to adults.
