Yes Grandma my husband's grandma died last Wednesday after they finally decided to disconnect the oxygen from her. She lived for about another day after the disconnection. I know she was really gone before they disconnected the machine but thankfully she is not suffering any longer. May her soul rest in peace.

Thank you so much. She suffered so much in her 86 years of living and now I'm sure she is finally at peace with the Lord.

Hi lelin, My deepest sympathy to the family. She is fine now I'm sure, free of that body that was causing all her suffering. Blessings.

I am sorry to ask this, but is active euthanasia allowed there? I am a nurse and I am aware of the ethical issues when it comes to life. But I don't want to judge your decisions. Sometimes, it is hard for someone to see the one they love suffer. It is much better to die than to see anyone in chronic pain. I have witnessed deaths from new born babies to old age and I know how it feels to lose the one you love or someone that is a part of you.

No its not. She was being kept alive by the machine and the daughters and son was told by the doctor that the machine was the only thing keeping her alive. CO2 was destroying her organs one by one. So that is when they knew there was no other way to go but to disconnect. She was 86 years old and was tired of living I believe after falling and breaking her hip.

Yes we are much kinder to our pets then we are to each other. Forcing useless bodies to remain alive to me is one of the worse thing we do.

If we can put out animals our of their misery and pain why on earth can't we do that for our loved ones. It makes not a bit of sense to me.

I'm so sorry to hear about this, lelin! Thank you for telling us about it! I'm sure it was hard for them to disconnect but I think it's better to do it than let her suffer. Please know that you and your family will be in my prayers.
