Hi all friends. This very question always excite me. I personally believe taking part in discussion is little easier than creating a thread. Coz while you have a question or an opinion in your hand it quite easy to answer. Whereas in creating thread you don't get this option. You have to present your thoughts through words initially, then others answer. It to me is a little easy job. What do you think which is convenient to you and why? Participation in discussion or creating a thread in mylot? I am dieing to know your opinion. Happy mylotting.

Neither of the two isn't difficult for me if you just keep yourself real. I mean, it isn't hard for you to open up yourself and give your opinion to give your reply. Also in posting threads, if you really have to say something that is new or ask questions that you couldn't find still in this site, its time for you to ask or share it. Not that much effort is given for the two of them, if you just keep it real! :)

I think it's harder to start discussions, because you have to begin from nowhere, where as if you are answering all of the hard work is done and you just need to think of crafting your answer.

Yes,in addition the thread one creates, should be interesting enough, for many to answer. That said,I find it very surprising that some guys come up with many questions which are very interesting, quite regularly. For me,it is very difficult to do so.I find responding easier.I think,if one is up-to-date with current events it will be easier to create interesting threads.

I believe it's different from situation to situation, actually. While I find it most fun to create my own threads as I get to hear lots of members reaction on my situation / my topic, I don't really create a lot of them. Mostly only one per week, or so. The reason is probably that I only create a new thread when I actually have something to discuss. Often I think about something, that I want to create a thread about, but then 10 minutes later I see that there is already a discussion about the matter, and I'll choose just to reply to that one instead of creating a new one, obviously.

Hi JackRoy, as for me, creating thread is way harder than participating in discussions. why? because you need to create a nice and interesting topic that will attract other mylotters to answer it... i haven't posted a thread for several months because i find it hard to think of a great topic. i am content with answering discussions that interest me such as personal life, love life, fashion, technology and other things.

Participating to a discussion is more ideal than creating a thread. There are difficulties in starting a discussion such as you have to consider topics that you feel would attract the interest of your respondents for them to be able to participate. Unlike in participating, it's just like answering a question, giving advices and there would be no right and wrong answers. The only thing that makes them similar is that it should not be offensive and must give ideal views or thoughts to the readers.

I always find it easier to participate on existing discussions than starting a new discussion. Composing or starting a new discussion requires more thinking. You have to think of a good topic and what will you put on said topic. Responding to others' discussion is much easier because our mind can easily think fast when a certain topic interests us or if it is based on our experience or emotion. It is more spontaneous when you draw your comment with an existing topic.

Personally, I find creating threads more difficult than participating in discussions. Perhaps it is easier to think when the topic is given. If I were to create a new discussion, I would ponder over what is a better topic, how to phrase it so that it can catch attention. I certainly will spend more time creating the discussion than responding to it.

I would say that creating threads can be more difficult than responding to threads as I have to think about what thread to actually start. When I look through discussions that hav already been started, there are lots of things I can repond to, but the time I have finished doing that on a daily basis, there is not much time left to start a new/different thread! _Derek

I agree with you that it is much easier to respond to discussions than it is to start them. I don't like starting discussions because of the work that is involved with being the person to start it. You need to read every response and hopefully have a comment to post to it or it seems people here don't like it. I have read so many discussions about this, that if people don't comment on the response they don't think of it as a discussion but just as postings. I don't have the time to comment on all of them, although I do read them all, so it isn't fair to start something I don't continue. I also have a hard time thinking of different subjects to start discussions with. I used to start a lot more years ago when I wasn't working and I had more time so I would always have a paper booklet and pen in my purse and I would write things down as I thought of things I could start a discussion about, while I was doing my daily things. Good luck and happy mylotting my friend, Chris

not really difficult but creating threads is something that i would not prefer than just responding to a discussion. when you create your own, you have to reply to every response whereas if you'll respond, sometimes you get early reply from the poster but i seldom go back to discussions i responded to.. i just post or discuss and discuss..

I joined that Tech doctor deals and I still don't get what a thread is or what to do with the thing? I like it here much more because I find that site still to be very confusing to me and I can't even get anywhere on that place so I just don't go there but maybe once a week just to see if I can figure it out again? I don't even know what a thread is L.O.L.

Just like you, I find it more difficult creating a thread. I have a lot of questions about a particular topic, but question is, would it be interesting enough for everyone to stir up a response? Or is my issue too personal that anyone else could not relate to it?

Sorry but both matters I'm doing and giving me knowledge first how to make a discussion topic which in the other side know how to reponse. Creating a topic is a little harder but learning is getting there. Discussion is little bit easy like your talking to somebody, just relate, give yourside that's all. Creating topic has a big challenge to everyone of us.... how you can manage in one situation if your topic become more responses and sometimes controversy... see you around

I guess it's easy to participate in an existing discussion that starting your own thread. The advantage of starting a new thread is you have the control on what topic you want to discuss with. Be little cautious only to start with something interesting to myLotters. :=)

Maybe just responding to discussions is much easier than creating your own topic. Responsibilities doesn't stop after posting the discussions as we have to comment to all responses and to resolve the discussion then your job as an OP is complete. But we should participate equally to both.

Not to mention that when you create a thread there's a chance that nobody would answer. That would sure be frustrating.

It is more difficult for me to start discussions than to respond to others discussions. The reason it is so difficult, is because I just can't seem to come up with a decent topic to start, one that others would be interested in responding to. I have started some discussions though, just not all that many though. I will still start discussions from time to time, but I will post more responses than start discussions. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

I find it much easier to reply to existing discussions than to create my own, since it's usually hard for me to come up with interesting topics to write about. When I do create my own threads, though, I think it's really interesting to read about other people's opinions about things that interest me.
