on a youtube video. I have big soup boxes that are the food tainer boxes the it would work for that, too.
So what have you saved from trash and made into something else? Our favorites are making confetti out of almost anything colorful from potato chip bags to colored paper. Also taking the veggie net bags and making them work as scrubbies.
So what are your best rescues?

You probably know that I reuse everything that I can! That includes potato chip bags and produce net bags. I made bird safe tents for the strawberries one year with net stretched over pieces cut from plastic milk jugs. You can use them to drip dry tub toys, or to keep poolside things handy, or to hang onions for storage, make funky package bows...
Newspaper is always reused here. I don't take the paper, so I'm not inundated with it, but I use it to dry windows and mirrors, to wrap tomatoes in to ripen, to keep the table clean when I'm doing messy stuff.
I save torn plastic shower curtain liners to use as drop cloths for painting.
I reuse coffee cans for everything.
Used coffee grounds can be used as a room deodorizer, a compost additive, a facial scrub and lots more.

Lots of excellent ideas. My husband gets the newspaper, but it is recycled in the area. If I could, I'd make papier mache (paper mache) projects all over the place, but I don't have the time or the room. I don't drink coffee, so I have to beg for one or two to use sometimes. Coffee grounds would make great compost, too bad people don't do that more that drink coffee. I do that with the little bit o tea that I drink. Tea dye is cool, too. Thanks and take care.

I don't know of any videos that have the subject of reusing things. However, there are several things that my mother has made in her crafting that involve reusing things. I think that my favorite thing that she has ever made that saves something from a landfill is Santa heads that are made from empty bleach bottles, yarn and felt. They are really cute and they make great gifts as well. I really like coming up with crafts that can be made from materials that are recycled.

They sound adorable. REminds me of the huge bell I made out of one as a kid. Can you post any pictures or are you like me, picture-internet challenged?

Yes and even curtains or undergarments out of flour sacks. But most often dish towels or towels to put over rising bread. Haven't seen regular clothes, that must be cool made that way. I want to make my own paper, too. Thanks and take care

They also make (and sell on Ebay) purses made out of the juice pouches like Capri Sun. I don't know, I guess if that suits your fancy, its a good thing, but I wouldn't carry one. I have also seen things made out of duct tape..cool but again...how long of life do they all have before you have to make another one!
I try to recycle best I can like reusing the plastic t-shirt bags at the grocery and use them for trash bags and couple other things, but we don't drink enough soda to keep them to recycle...I mean a case a month...do you realize how long it'd take me to save enough to just pay for my gas to get them to a recycling center? Same with the water bottle. I got a Britta and just refill them About every other month, I'll buy a case just to get fresh bottles...gotta have some compliance with germs and all..but those I save to give to my grand daughter as she recycles them as they buy ones...no Britta for them! So really..I don't have much to recycle.

Our recycling centers are all over. I just throw my empties in a bag in the back of my car. Every major store has recycling plus lots of other places here. So I have extra $ for Price Chopper, Hannaford, and any place that sold me the soda to beging with has to take them back. But every state is different. We have no juice pouch recycling, just soda and water bottles and cans.
As for the life of recycled products. Some of the are very long. Sometimes longer than other things. I just made a recycled holder for my clothes pins. New clothe and new yarn would be no good in a year. But recycled cottage cheese contrainer and bags, I should have the clothes pin holder on my clothesline for years. It takes forever for plastic to break down. I might have to replace the plastic bag hanger in a year, but not the part where the clothes pins are stored.

Saved a few chairs to make into planters for my garden a few years back. Otherwise, there isn't much that I've saved recently. Though I did take a walk with my Son this morning and picked up a can or two it won't be made into anything but it'll be added to my bin and turned in next year for a few extra $.

I don't have any great rescues but there is a lady here in town that weaves doormaos out of the plastic bags that you get at Wal-mart or the grocery store! I was amazed! She presented them to my daughters old girl scout troop while they were learning about recycling.

They were all the rage a few years back. If you want to learn more about recycling those bags, search for how to make "Plarn" short for plastic yarn. You'd be surprised what will come up. Thanks and take care. P. S. I hope you read the other saves here and are able to use at least one with your girls.

Well,I make many of my own cleaning products and I try to store them in plastic milk jugs that have been cleaned and recycled. I also recycle paper bags and other paper items for use in other things. I like the idea of making the veggie net bags into scrubbers.

Interesting videos. I'll have to check out the how to remove a cork from a bottle because my friend pushed hers in. The topic was kind of on the reuse side. So any reusing things videos that you know?
