This topic may have been already discussed if so sorry but do you guys and gals think that football has become a very dangerous sport. I mean I know its been dangerous from the beginning of time being a contact sport and all but there are serious consequences if you be in the sport for a long period of time. There was a special on Bryant Gumbles HBO show talking about what concussions lead to. Alzheimer's being a main concern and all, and almost two weeks ago Rutgers defensive tackle Eric LeGrand was hit so hard he is currently paralyzed from the neck down. My prayers go out to him and his family and all the rest of the football players out there who have gone through the same situation. Even Roger Goodell has had to step forward on this issue its getting pretty disgusting what do you think???

OMG!! Yes but it has always been dangerous. It hasn't changed. It has just been overlooked for many years. The only reason it is being looked at now as a "real dangerous" sport is because what happen to Eric LeGrand (all my blessings go out to his family). I feel it should have always been looked at as a real dangerous sport. When players say they go on the field to hurt players or they say I put aside $50,000 at the beginning of the year just to pay for penalties for hard hits.

Good answer I feel the same way. I guess its the same everywhere sad to say it always takes a juggerknot to make something happen. I guess that's why they get paid all them millions to pay for doctor and such. Brain treatment would run in the millions a win for the doctors. I don't know if you seen the Bryan Gumble Show but they had the head of the NFL doctor saying to the camera that football didn't cause alzheimer's what a F**ken lier. Lets see him get his head banged up a 150 times a season he wouldn't know how to write his own check later or what money meant. 50,000 is the fine for a rough hit woooowwww thats nothing to a player that has a 7 year contract worth 75 million. Lets take it up a notch NFL how about a cool million. That should stop alot of those stupid hits.

I think one of the reasons for football becoming increasingly dangerous is the technology involved as well as the techniques used in training. Todays athletes are bigger and faster which results in more violent hits. There does need to be a move to make football safer. One of the best and effecient ways to do this is awareness. Each player can make a decision as to when and how hard to hit. Some certain hits that I have wittnessed in the past could have been pevented. A lot is left upto the indivdual. These indivduals need to realize that they could bring harm to theirselves!
