I agree with this, Many teachers have really done this because it is their passion. that they have lived to teach and even had done so because they love not only their profession but also their students and would act even as the one that can be the children's second parents.
I would love to have such a teacher that would always touch our lives. Sadly though i have not, I cannot even think of one teacher in my school days that was like him, that was like this kind of person that wholly gives himself to his pupils and wants tthem to be better and wants them to be the best they can be. The teachers i have had i guess where not as passionate and only works for the sake of working and being paid. - I see no such in their eyes, they do not care for their students as much as others would have.
Morrie is different, you see it in him, that he is the kind of person that has the passon and love for people, kids and students.

Yes I did read this novel and saw the film...cried at both. Not only was the subject so touching but my father had the same disease and I felt the same way as the main charachter; rushing to the bedside to try to make the best use of time that was left to us. Sure enough, we did sort out some issues that needed sorting out and I am glad we did it. Some of it was painful (not to mention revealing) but I am glad we went through the process as now that he's gone, I don't have the never-ending, "If only I had said this, if only I had not done that."
For me, the hardest was seeing a 160 pound healthy man reduced to 65 lbs in one year and it wasn't only the physical reduction! It was also the anger/ frustration in him that he was at the complete mercy of this illness which came on with such terrifying swiftness. I can only imagine the state of anxiety others went though, not knowing what each day would bring.
One thing I did do while visiting him was I asked those of us that were there what were our best days with him. Why? Well, with all that the disease was doing to him I thought he would like something positive to remember as being positive does wonders for the spirit even in the most trying of times.
Sorry if I rambled on here--it's just one thing to read the book or see the film and quite another when its a member of your own family.
