It is true that most of us value honesty highly. However, the dishonesty phenomenon are so popular in our society.I think that we should be honesty because not only to ourselves but also to others and the whole society, being honesty is beneficial.
There are quantities of reasons accounting for this.Firstly, the honesty people can be respected by others. We should cherish our reputation.Secondly, honesty can make our life easier and more harmonious.Without honesty the business cannot run smoothly.
In short, laying stress on honesty will become the public morals in our society.

Yeah, you are right. That's why our society is so complicated. It is just because the dishonest people can often get more than the honest ones that so many dishonesties are around us.
But I believe that the honest people will get rewarded sooner or later and the dishonest people will get punished.

Honesty is the best policy-most of the time. Any time honesty is used to hurt another person unnecessarily, it is not a good policy. When honesty is used to criticize or put another down, it is not a good policy. When honesty is used to make the self look good or superior to another, it is not a good policy. However, when honesty is used in the service of integrity, when honesty comes out of good character, when honesty leads to positive outcomes, honesty is the best policy.

Of course we need honesty. But you can't just leave off deceit. A mix of the two is needed. It's called doing whatever it takes to excel and move up the ladder.

Hello, strongsz,I think people choosing lying or staying honest just depends on what he can get if he lies and what he can lose if he lies.I hate lying, bring a lot of unconvenience and harm and hurt.I think the according law should be stict to prevent people to be dishonest and religion is useful because religion can keep people in faith.

Hi,webb_jiang
In my opinion, some liers have such a narrow view that they cannot realize the harm of telling lies to some extent. On these occasions,I think, education can make a great effort.By means of education, the liers or those who may lie in the future could realize the adverse effect of telling a lie.
May you be happy everyday.

Good thinking. I cannot say that i've never lied my entire life. Lying has been in my system since I was a kid whether it's a white lie or not. However, i do try my best that my kind of lying doesn't hurt anybody at all. You may wonder, how is this possible. Try to think of white lies again. I have to convince an old grandma suffering from alzheimer's disease to go to the hospital, but she wouldn't budge. I couldn't do this without lying at all.
Yes, you are correct, honesty is always the golden rule and will always make others respect you.

Be honest with people, be honest with our society. i think we will have a harmonious society in the honest way. Also we should be honest to animals, such as cat, dog. Dog is a cute and honest animal.

I love playing devil's advocate.
What if the honesty you express does more harm than good? It may make you feel best, but what about the other person?
One good example is that health care advisors now allow the patient to not know if their condition is most likely to be terminal. They would rather continue that treatment without knowing the odds of their survival.
Would you tell a fundamentalist religion parent that their son or daughter is not living the religion they raised them in? Would you tell your parent if you are such a son or daughter?
If i was the one in the wrong, i agree I should own up to such a mistake. When it involves other people, some disgression may be more wise.

I completely agree with your thoughts. The point is that more and more people look at dishonest people and see them as successful and then decide to take that path. Also there are people who consider dishonest people as smart and try to follow their path. I think honesty and any other such morals are a personal thing and an individual needs to cherish it and follow it.
I always remember this story regarding honesty. A father and child go to a zoo. The father takes a ticket for himself and his son who is 5 and half years old. The ticket seller says "Sir, had you told me you son was just under 5, I would not have been able to figure it out and then you need not have brought the ticket."
To this the father replies "Yes, you will not have known, but my son will have known. How can I be dishonest to him and teach him to be dishonest so early in his life?"
Cheers!

I just remember that I had 2 sisters who is dishonest with me at first bringing me to a house which she said is her house and introduce someone to me.
I am shocked to know later that the house I am in is his cousin's house.
So when many people in that town asked me whether I had a relationship with him, I said yes he is my friend.
But then rumours begin circulating arouund this town and I got a bad name for going to this house as a girl I am being bad mouthed I am not a virgin anymore. For your information, I am a chinese girl.
So do you honest with people who dishonest with you?
So now I think what the meaning of caring for other people's feeling when they seem to be deceiving.

Glad to mee you.
I am a chinese boy. What a happy coincidence to meet you here.
When I was a child, I was taught to return good for evil.I can understand the reason why I should do this. However in my daily life,I cannot do this at.I hate the people who is deceiving to me.So,I would be honset with those who are dishonest with me.
Nonetheless,we ought to learn forgive others.Because as is known to all, nobody can avoid making mistakes especially when we are young.
Good luck to you.

I agree with you that honesty is the best policy. However if a person is not quite honest from the start then it then becomes stressful to continue that type of persona for them as the lie must be stretched and maintained.
Nothing like failing as long as you are honest as it will make for a better person in the end as we all learn but best to learn via honesty as nothing really lost but efforts gained.

Good point. I just remembered surrendering a wallet that has P10,000 (USD 222) to a radio station so she can be notified that someone found her valuable thing. It went up to an on-air interview which came to my shock because I do not want to make publicity out of it. And I preferred returning it via media because the have all the means to look for persons in particular with ease. Well, they value honest persons so I took it as a reward then. Nonetheless, we just don't know how grateful people are everytime we become honest and truthful in action and/or word.
