This Is Government Control

Media reports from Venezuela on the evening of October 25th reported that Hugo Chavez, dictator of Venezuaela had expropriated two more manufacturing facilities. The two facilities manufacture glass bottles and containers and are owened by O-I.
O-I management learned of this from the media reports at the same time everyone else did. As of the morning of October 26th, the company had no contact from the Venezuelan government.
To expropriate means to derive of posession or ownership. Stealing would be a more familiar term. O-I is not the first company to have this happen and Chavez says there will be more.
You might remember that obama and chavez share similar beliefs on many things. This is the kind of move that obama dreams of (think government motors). Any business making profit should kneel at the feet of government, so government can take the profits - all for the sake of the people, of course.
How does that level of government control and power make you feel? It would certainly re-shape your definition of freedom.

I would not like it. When the government takes things over, it sets a whole lot of rules as what you can and cannot do, and that kills initiative. That is why here in Canada, there are not that many small businesses started in homes, because of the rules and regulations and why well there are so many telemarketers and flier deliverers. Now if I decided to sell cookies from my house (impossible since I would be tempted to eat them. ) then there would be regulation as to what size stove I should have, how many pans I need, the type of flour, the storage capacity, places to park the cars, whether I can ship them, the gst and pst regulations, etc.
Yes once Obama makes government control of everything, well guess what will happen? I do feel sorry for the people of Venezuela with a dictator like Chavez. I would not be surprised that they even tax air down there.

Many successful businesses have been started by individuals or families working out of their homes and then a small storefront. The Freedom enjoyed by these people allowed them to have the vision, put in the hard work and long hours, and then experience success and growth. These small businesses are like tender plants in your garden. If you have a heart to do so, you can destroy all those little plants before they have a chance to grow.
That is a good picture of what government does to small businesses in their quest for total control. Of course they have no right to do it, they just play the roll of bully.
One of the union leaders working in one of the plants was quoted talking about the uncertainty of the workers, and the fear that they might lose their jobs. Of course, Chavez may need to distribute some of their wealth as well. He can create a special O-I tax!

That is what usually happens and what was happening in Canada and also in Manitoba when we had the NDP in Manitoba and the Liberals in the Federal government. You had it bad on both ends. And our tax laws are such that you do not need to make two hundred thousand dollars to be considered rich. I think it is around 50 thousands but not sure. You have to go on the Canadian income tax site for that.
The more regulations they have, the more they discourage small businesses.
It is a little better here and I suppose once Chavez is removed or voted out of office, the regulations would be made easier, but you know that the fear would remain and there would be less people starting small businesses there.

This is just another aspect of Fascism... which is the merging of government and business. in it's most basic definition.
What a lot of people don't realize is that we have been victims of economic fascism since 1913, when government turned control of our economy over to the Federal Reserve... which is not Federal at all, but in reality is a Private Banking Cartel... and through over regulation by government on the marketplace, we really have not had a true free market economy for nearly 100 years.
Our economic problems are a direct result of that government interference, and the Federal Reserve is responsible for all of these recessions, and actually caused the Great Depression.
In order to get our country back, we need to abolish the FED, and put that power back in Congress where it belongs.
Then we need to get to work on repealing all of those business killing regulations that the progressives have written over the last 100 years.
Chavez is 0bama's hero, and for that alone, we need to insure that 0bama is a one-term wonder who will forever be known as the worst president and fraud ever.

Let the history books be written today! Obama is the worst president this country has ever had, and hopefully will ever have. obama says we can absorb the shock of another 9/11 terrorist attack, but I wonder if we could absorb the pain and damage of another socialist/marxist president like him.
obama's measure of success is keeping the GOP in the backseat.
The Federal Reserve is a wonder. I do not know that much about it, and until the last year, I did not know anything about it. It is sometimes mentioned in the news, but other than that there is no public aspect to it, is there?

wow. This is sounding a lot like communism don't you think? Having a government like that s not good for any country, economically. Foreign investors will stop coming because of the huge risk of losing your money to the government. Local investors will flee the country and start a life elsewhere where the government won't rob them of their profits.
It's not wrong to profit from a business. Businesses are for the people. It's how they earn money to pay for their needs.
What a government should to is to stop profiteering, which is when a business over-prices a good or service, which is like duping the people.
