Yesterday i met some friends of mine. We talked a lot about several important things to us. About our work too. And i was suprised to know that one of my friends already starting his own very successful business and in the meantime he continue to work in previous job. It could be cool, but there is one sad thing about this - he got his own business because of information and contacts borrowing from his previous job. What surprised me the most was that he still keep that methods of work and thus planning to destroy previous company business "from inside" in a few next years. Ok, i am happy because he succeed with his own business, but still isnt there some business morality today? Is that could be truth what all people around saying, that you can became rich only with some thiefery or any other dirty things?

Venturing into business needs strong determination and success doesn't come rolling freely to our doors. A lot of hard work is expected with some business know how to be successful. But most people say that there is no straight road to a successful business. Since competition is stiff in the business world, it is not unusual to find businessmen are cunning people. I can see your friend is cunning though what he is doing is unethical but that is the only way to survive in the competitive business world.

OK, but how you would cal it when somone works in company only to get more knowledge about your business as all employees, but not stealing information like email adresses, contacts etc. Also its had to call somebody thief when his main job in company is like sending emails, talking to customers etc.

In this very competitive world we live in, you will find people like your friend, stealing other people's business and hard work. It isn't a good business practice to copy. We should all have to be reminded of the boomerang effect. What goes around comes around. Sooner or later what he does to the company he steals information and clients from could also happen to him, his family, and his business. And besides, a business or anything that we do, that is built on deceit and greed has a very weak foundation and will not last long. Trust and Credibility are the most powerful fundamental elements in any business to be able to achieve real success and sustain for years if not a lifetime..
While it is true that the strongest survives in the business world, being strong in business does not mean stealing and becoming unethical, but rather one who knows what he is doing good for his/her business, the people around him/her and the community and most of all putting his/her good reputation, trust and credibility as top most priority for his/her business. Then everything else follows...
One thing that I learn from your post is that in any business we do we have to be vigilant and watchful of our employees, protect our business information and above all implement measurable ways of looking after our clients so that they will not be taken or stolen away from us. As practicably possible, we should have clearly defined roles and job descriptions for all the people working on and for our business and must know their activities in relation to our business scope and coverage. Nobody can best protect us and our assets but ourselves...Thanks and All the Best......

I wouldn't keep him as company if he fails to realize and change his dishonest business strategy. While it's true that dirty money earned can never last long, there's still time to alter its fate by convincing one's self on how you're destroying other people's life and business however it's highly unlikely that he could just walk away without facing discrete consequences of it.

Many have become rich at the expense of others.
They try to put down other people or steal intellectual properties of others and present it as their own.
Have a wonderful day.

True. But believe me i have seen much worse situations and baddest people than my friend we discussing now about. There is alot more such people here who give people job, but does not want to pay for it. Sad reality :(

People, places, and things. With changes in these three areas, you can live like a millionaire while waiting to become one. If the people in your life, the places you go or interact in, and the things you surround yourself with have not seen your rise to financial abundance, then change them. While waiting for your ship to come in, you might want to consider swimming out to meet its arrival instead. And this means making some definite changes in your lifestyle! It is probably the best way to learn how to live like a millionaire while waiting to become one. Changing the people with whom you associate on a regular basis is the most influential way of changing your whole lifestyle.

But mostly i have choosed those people i am with on my own. They are nice guys, they work hard and try to survive in here as best as they can.
from the other hand maybe you are right about it. i need changes and now, but i think i will start of my own changing. Not always people around are guilty for my unsuccess in life.

I'm afraid I heared so many cases in wich business morality is entirely missing. I don't know if there is a problem only in our ex-comunist countries, but we have to admit there is a problem. We can't call a thief "a successfull businessman"! But too many of our countrymen do so.
I'd be cautious with such a friend, because if he once stolen from his working place, he may steal from friends and family too.

I come from ex-communist country too, so i completely understand you. here stealing starts with government and then like a piramide expands down to most lower society classes.

To put it in a nice way, it's all part of his experience. Even if he's no longer working in his present company now, he would have already familiarize himself with the daily operations of the company. So long one has the experience, starting their own business is not difficult at all with capital being the only problem. What your friend is doing might be illegal in the eyes of law, so pray hard he doesn't get caught.

yes, i hope he will not be caught on this, but as he told me once sooner or later his previous employees will understand whats was going on and how they managed to get so much clients and money in so short period of time.

I personally believe that any individual who uses deception and dishonesty to start any business endeavor will not last long or will not be enjoyed. Destroying another company just to have a successful business is not good for me. I would prefer to start small rather than start a big company or business that is not taken from honesty and hard work. I remember one author who said that a lasting success in any business is the one that will not deprive others.

If he has this attitude, one day someone from his own comapny will do this to him too. If his employees know that their boss did it and succeeded then they might think to follow his footsteps.
I'm sure there are legalities that are being crossed and there would be a price to pay if he continues this practice. Maybe you can give a suggestion for your friend to stop.
