Government job or business with high profit

No job is secure! You also have to ask yourself what you want. Do you want to work within the government or do you want to have your own business? Creating and maintaining your own business takes a lot of work, often you put in more hours than at a full time job. When you're the boss, you're never really off.

One cannot get rich just as an employee in a public office here in my country, unless you are involved in stealing the government's money or in corruption in many forms. A professor once told me that she doesn't want to see any of us if we're just mere employees. We were trained to become entrepreneurs and that's what she wants to see all of us. However, not everybody who enters entrepreneurship would strike it rich because they don't really have what it takes.

In India these days the salaries in the Government jobs have increased many times over. So government job in India is both secure and well paying for employees. On the private sector though the salaries are bit higher, the uncertainty is much more and that leads to a lot of stress for the employees. But the other side to the story is that more and more of the government jobs are becoming competitive now that these agencies are going public!! Cheers! Ram

if i have the qualifications, i would like to work in the government. it's stable and there are a lot of benefits and allowances. but why i didn't want to is that i know government itself goes with politics. too much politics. and i just can't stand making competition with anyone because of money and position. i only want to work.

Hi Sham, Getting a government jobs is not an easy task. Now most of the people are well qualified or well educated and they are even ready to apply for a lower class job. I read in newspaper that there was large number of post graduate and MBA people applied for a clerical job. I agree the government job is more secure but getting the same is very difficult. If a person gets success in his/her business it is also an achievement. There is no particular qualification is required for doing business, it is also true.

I feel Business is better than Government job when it is profitable and to secure the future life business is to do savings and proper investments.. and ofcourse as Sree said getting government job is very difficult.. where as for business effort and economical stability is important.. so that you will be your boss..

Better still if we could worki in the goverment, while doing business... \m/

Actually it depends, what is your mind set, some people prefer to have government job and some prefer business. Now a days, you may have seen this trend that young generation want to be involved in some kind of business, there are risk factors in starting a business but it is paying you much more than a government job. One of my cousin, was a government servant for three months, he had a good and sound salary with other bonuses but he quit job and started his own business, and I think his decision was very right at that time, he has now money and every thing, he travel around the world for business and doing good for his family. So I think instead of doing a government job, it is preferred to have business....
