does being jealous is a sin? they say its bad to be jealous. some jealous people would do anything to get what he/she doesnt have which leads to doing bad things but some makes their jealousy to work hard for what they want. so is it good or is it bad?

I don't think that it's a sin to jealous. Some people say that love cannot exist without jealousy. As long as it's not the obsessive possessive type, jealousy is a healthy way of letting your partner know that you care and it is much better than indifference any day!

Being jealous or envious over the successes of other people is not a sin. It is what we do that may be a sin.
As an example a jealous or envious person starts slandering the other person. Slander, at least in my religion, is a big sin. It is not just smearing the good name of the other person, as a result of a slander can last a lifetime.
In my country there are jealous people who resort to using black magic to make life difficult for the other person. The use of black magic is also wrong in my religion.
Some feeling of jealousy is needed in some people to spur them to do better in life.

It's hard to say whether it's good or not. But I believe this is the nature of human beings. For no one want to be less excellent than others.
We can say distinctly that 1 plus 1 is 2, but when it comes to human beings, things started to be complex. Anyway human beings are not something as simple as arithmatic. What's important is how to control this kind of emotion in a right place.
