Do you like pumping gas?

Do you like going to the gas station and pumping gas into your car? I personally hate it. It smells so bad and the fumes go right up into my face as I am standing there holding the nozzle in the tank spout thing. It makes me feel sick. I wish every gas station I went to did full service so they would come out and pump the gas for me. I wouldnt mind paying a few cents extra per gallon for it. There is a place about 30 minutes from me that has a few full service stations but every other one I've gone to even far away from me are all self-service. Thats one job I would not want is to be a gas station attendant at a full service gas station. Have you ever done this job? How long did you last at this job?

No I haven't had to do this job.
But when I got my first car, I also did not want to pump my own gas. My car was new, I was earning decent money, so I always did full service. Over time, this luxury became 'savings-initiative'. To save a few cents, I had to do self serve. Now, it's the only way I know how.

Having full service ensures that I dont have to get my kids out of the car to go in and pay. I dont even have to get out either hehe. All I have to do is roll down the window tell them how much to put in then wait for them to come back when the gas is done pumping and pay them. Then I am off. Sometimes the gas attendants are cute to ;-)

No, we have to pump the gas here all by ourselves in Malaysia. It is not difficult. Only thing is you have to be careful of static electricity when leaving the vehicle. I use a credit card to pay at the pump;so it is very convenient.
The other thing is to look away from the vapour as you pump the gas in as it is carcinogenic!

What is a pain when you pump gas is if you have kids and you have to take them in with you to pay. Its worse if they are sleeping or its really cold out. Your right though pumping gas is very easy I just hate doing it. Its hard to keep the fumes out of my face when I'm pumping the gas but I do try.

hen i was younger, I loved watching my father pump gas into the car. I liked watching the gas pump numbers change. Now that I have to do this for myself, it is not as much fun. it is more of a chore, especially when it's time to pay.@shaggin (72131)

Haha very true. I used to love the old pumps how the numbers would turn but now its kind of boring with the digital counters. I agree its not fun when we have to pump our own gas. Oh the joys of being young :)

Never worked in a gas station before and its not something Id like to do.
You might not believe this but Ive never had to put gas in my own car. When I was single, all the gas stations was full service. Then I got married and I let hubby take care of that. Id feel pretty stupid if Id have to put gas in my SUV.....Id ask a man to do it for me lol.
I feel sorry for those working there now as theres so many robberies, so its a dangerous job now.

Wow I cant imagine going my whole life and never pumping my own gas. Thats pretty awesome though that you've never had to do that. Lucky gal! I used to make my ex pump the gas if he and I were out together and needed to stop and get gas. As for me I'm single now so I'm always pumping my own gas. I hate it.

I remember as a kid there were full and self service stations but they are far and few anywhere. I think the only places are really small towns.
I have never done this for a living and personally would not like too as the smell all day would kill me. As for my own vehicle luckily is not several times a day for me to have to fill up and well when I do I really do not think about it too much and just do it and get out quick as the smell is irritating to me.

Well I live in a very small town and they do not pump gas for us :( But if I got about 30 minutes from me this town which is larger then my town has two places that will pump your gas. Most the time its young guys who come out to pump your gas but sometimes its old men and it makes me feel bad.

I grew up with full service stations in America and never really got the hang of self service. Most of the stations in Italy still have full service, but if you want to get gas after eight o'clock in the evening then you had better be willing to use the self service. I don't mind the smell at all, but I don't like dealing with those machines that take your money, I lost 20 euro in one of them. I prefer not using self service.

Wow interesting so where you are there are gas pumps that you insert money into as you would say a coin machine? I've never heard of such a thing. We dont have many full service places around here so I'm always pumping my own gas. If they pumped gas for me before 8pm then I would just try my hardest to get there before that time so I could sit in and car and have them pump the smelly gas.
