Personal rating: 4/5
Pros:
-Dark gritty zombie theme.
-Lovely RPG elements.
-Decent online community.
-Free to play, browser based, no downloads.
-You can create as many accounts as you want.
-Now in 2D and 3D.
-Real time. As in, NOT turn based.
Cons:
-Poor graphics.
-3D is still undergoing some polishing.
-Subscription for gold membership is a little steep.
-Abrupt and seemingly random maintenance interrupts game.
-Some character class too similar.
-The game can get boring when traveling long distances.
To be honest, I am not a huge fan of the 3D version. I have heard it has more/ less enemies or more/ less item finds but it seems basically the same as the 2D version with one drawback, it is still being fortified. It can be laggy and unresponsive and sometimes you can be very close to an enemy and they do not react. I still enjoy the 2D version immensely though, and I am sure one day the 3D version will meet or exceed the 2D version in fun and playability.
Your 2D profiles can be played on the 3D version and vice-versa. I recommend this game to anyone, especially those who want a great game with low system requirements.

Well I have played this game regularly and this is the only zombie games online that i really like.
I also agree with you that some of the characters are similiar but because it is a indie/underground game updates are not that fast.
For the 3d, it is easier to roam around than in 2d the enemies also are easier to go around than in 2d. In 2d even if you changed map they will still follow you.
But with the 3d the walking is too long.
