There are some people that can stay up late and get up early...no problem. There are also those that know if they stay up after a ceratin time that they are not worth a dime the next day...lol...that be me. It never really bothered me until I had to get up and be at work by 6am. I actually set a "bed time" for myself so I knew that when I got up the next day I would be fresh. I even tested the waters a bit at first just to see..lol...do you have a bedtime? Have you set it or has it come naturally? What time do you have to get into bed so you feel good the next day?

I have tried so many years to set myself a bed time to get a good 8 hours sleep or at least 6 but unfortuntely I'm one of those people who are the oppisite of you and is able to stay up all night and go to sleep for 30 minutes to an hour and get up and do it all again. Actually for the last 2 weeks just recently I have been up till 6 am then fall asleep till 7am then get up. Its been like this for many years and yet my doctor doesn't think anything is wrong. Wish he could live a few weeks at night in my body then he would know different.

When I was working the best time for me to go to sleep was 10pm and no later then 11:30pm. Anything after that would make me grouchy the next day and not able to function the way I like too at work. Now that I'm not working I can stay up till 1 or 2 in the morning with no problems. However, I still usually get up early in the morning between 7 and 8am.

This is true, even though 95% of the time when I was working I would be up before the alarm. I too would hate to hear that alarm go off. I somehow programed my body to wake up before it went off.

Yes,i always tried this.
Because i need to wake up early.
So,i set my bedtime by 2am or can be up to 3am (late).
I am a late sleeper and can even stay up till morning.
This is due to my work time shifting.
But i can say that i am still managing my time always.

That's good that you can manage your time well. Swing shifts at work can really mess up a sleeping schedule. I have been on the same shift for a long time. I used to switch back and forth a few years ago but I got tired of that. I never felt like I got enough rest when I worked a 3rd shift. Thanks for responding.

I have a set bedtime, I sleep at least by 12:30 AM and I have to wake up at 7:30 AM. I regret sleeping anytime later than 12:30 AM because I will be tired and exhausted by the time I wake up. If I sleep anytime sooner like 10:00-11:00 PM it would be perfect :)

n't have a specific bedtime but I try to make sure I get 6 hours of sleep. SO my bed tiem varies based on when I get up in the morning. However I'm not always good at following. I LIKE sleeping, but i hate going to bed. If that even makes sense. Once I am asleep I want to stay asleep. In my perfect world night time would be 2 am till 10 am.

I am always early to where I have to go. I always set the alarm half and hour before when I am supposed to wake up and when it rings I am so sleepy I usually forget that it is set for half an hour early. Try that for a couple of weeks and even if you hit the buzzard for 5 minutes you are still early when you awake.

I don't set an exact bedtime. Since I have to work in the daytime and then I have to do some housework when I am back to home after work. I can have my own spare time when my child goes to sleep. So the time won't left so much and therefore I have to sleep later so that I can have more free time for myself. Since I have to work next day, so I try to go to sleep no later than 12am.
I love China

I feel best if I go to bed at 9 and get up at 6. Then dayhlight savings time comes along and for a month or two, I'm all messed up.

Oh my, poor you having to get up at 6AM.....I sometimes to go bed at that time haha!
Im not a day person at all. My body clock is not like most people. I worked day jobs nearly all my life and it was always a problem for me to get up in the morning, no matter what time Id go to bed the night before. Then I had to quit my job and find work from home. I started going to bed later and later at 5 or 6AM and Id get up at noon the next day and be feeling fresh and rested. I like to sleep when its daytime and Im wide awake when its dark outside. This is how Im living now and Im feeling so much better.
Maybe your body clock is like mine?

It might be. I actually have to be at work by 6 so I am up a bit earlier than that. I used to be more of a night person but the job has really changed that for me. When I worked 2nd shift I think I felt better physically than I ever have. It just couldn't be continued because I would never get to see the children that way. Thanks for responding.

I usually sleep at past 12 midnight.... then waking up around 8:30... i don't have a bundy clock to hurry up into, so waking up late morning is usual to me...
This is going to change in the coming weeks since I have to look for a job...

I used to wake up late but I guess I have gotten used to getting up early. There was a time when I didn't even hear the alarm clock! My goal in electronics was to make an alarm clock with an amplifier and some house speakers..LOL...
@ Matty...I am always very active within my discussions. I appreciate when people take time to respond and I want them to know that their responses are important to me. I do love the interaction I have with my friends and other members here. Thanks for the compliment and I'll see you around.

When I was still working (which I'm not now), I had to be to bed by 10 or there was no way I'd be up at 5:30 the next day. Even then, I wasn't a morning person. My staff learned over the years, if you want a "yes" out of the boss, you need to ask after 10 a.m., by then I might have 4 cups of coffee down me and be functioning. I really didn't get "started" until 1 p.m. and then I'd blast away until 7, 8, 9, etc. p.m. Sometimes, I didn't get home from work until after my bedtime...now that was a bummer. All I had time to do was say goodnight to the dogs and hit the sack... I said, when I retired, I was going to sleep in until 9 every morning. I did for the first couple of months. But now it's been 4 years since I retired, and I find myself up at 6:30/7, even after going to bed at 10, 12, 1, 2... The dogs have learned not to ask me for a "yes" until after 10 a.m...I'm still a grouch until 10 a.m.

I think it is very important for the boss to express their preferences...LOL..I'm glad the dogs have caught on. I hate working late but I tend to do that some too. School a couple of nights a week really wears me out but I love it so I am refusing to give that up. I get up early on the weekends too even after I think I can sleep a hundred years. Thanks for responding.

no i have not set a proper bed time and my schedule is completely flexible and i had made my body such that i can work continuously for a long time and can rest for a long time. i.e. when i have to do a work then i can stay awake all the night and day and on contrary when i do not have anything to do then i can rest or sleep for as ling as 18 hours or more....
it may seem ridiculous... but it is not untrue..

This is very good to set your bed timings and wake up timings, it is not only good for your health but also for your daily activities. If you ask from me, then I wish I could have a bed time for me, but I cannot. I use internet late night, and myLot is now a favorite so for it I come up late night. So I dont have any special bed time, depends on my sleep, when I feel sleepy I go to bed and duzzzz

Good morning Jen, when i worked i tried to get in bed by 10 o'clock. I am going towake up early no matter what time i went to bed. I am not a good sleeper & that use to make me feel bad when i was working. Now i just go to bed when i think i can sleep a few hours. There are a few perks to not being able to work anymore.

I normally average 5 to 8 hours of sleep. My schedule is very unusual. I have a 13 month old and I normally get him to bed in the evening time and then I stay up until the wee hours of the morning... (such as now, its 5:34am EST)and then grab a few hours before he wakes up. I really must be heading off to bed right now or else I will not get one bit of sleep before he is raring to go! Most of the time I stay up until around 3am or so. This helps me to accomplish what I need to online!

I tend to let my body dictate my bed time. It changes from day to day, depending on what energy I have expelled during the day and how active I am at night. If I keep myself going like when I am motivated to finish something, then I can stay up pretty late, but if I sit down and relax, then I am usually ready for bed by 9pm. I always read in bed of a night, so sometimes I read for an extra half an hour, other times I start falling asleep after five minutes.
I have fallen asleep and had the book crash down on my face plenty of times!
I am more of an early morning person, but I do not use an alarm. I just wake up when I am ready. At this time of the year with the sun coming up earlier, I wake at about 5am usually. 6am in winter and sometimes 4am at the peak of summer. This can dictate my bed time also. The earlier I get up, then the earlier I am ready for bed, although I do tend to have more energy in the summer months as well.

No, I haven't. Yet. I am actually considering doing it soon, because I need to get more sleep. So I am planning on doing it, and I do think it is a good idea, but I am not quite there yet!
