My daughter started her school this year as nursery. I noticed this boy, her co-service always shouts her name while waving goodbye to her. I asked her who is he, her classmate? and she said yes. I asked her too if he is her friend? she said boyfriend! Well maybe for now that's okay. What do you think?

I think for a four year child it is not easy to understand what is girlfriend and boyfriend, she may be thinking he is boy, so she called it as boyfriend, ask her if she has any girlfriend then you ll come to know about her understanding of bf and gf.
Be happy and be the cause of happiness for others....

Your idea is very brilliant! now i can better explain it to her, once i know what is her understanding of a boyfriend. Thanks for sharing it!

I had a boyfriend in kindergarten. My friend's daughter actually married, last year, the person she called her boyfriend at the age of four. So you never know. He could be the one! I'm sure it's okay. Most everyone does it growing up.

I think nowadays the kids are being exposed to these things at a very young age. I am not happy with it actually. There was a time when the neighbor's little girl around 3 years old that time, came over to our house and told my little boy that she is going to marry him. My little boy just stuck out his tongue in disgust I try to avoid having them exposed to these things and I always tell them that they are too young for boyfriend/girlfriend stuffs

Although children today are being exposed to some many things at too young of an age, I do want to add that perhaps her innocence is simply saying he is a friend and a boy at that. Although it sounds like she is correcting the friend boy by saying boy-friend.
This is sort of tough as when you say for now, but then when do we as parents correct this so that it does not lead to a 11 year old feeling like they are in love. Good luck with this as she is quite young and truly at her age she is emulating what little ones are saying. I suppose as she gets older you will be able to determine the difference. Be well.
