Fellow mylotters, christmas is fast approaching, holiday rush is soon felt by many especially the ones in the corporate world. When is the best time to buy christmas presents? Would you rush for the last minute shoppng sale or prefer to plan it in advance to prepare more for the coming holidays? I for one wants to organize everything this year & not anymore experience the same thing as before when i'm still working. I want every gift to be special this time. Holiday rush or advance planning & shopping? Happy mylotting & happy holidays!

I like to start my christmas shopping as early as I can. I don;t like to wait until the last minute. I can't enjoy shopping if i am rushed for time.

Hi wadabski! Malls are open? halfday i think? But i'll try to if time permits. Most people would spend the 2 days vacation for their love ones in the cemetery. Some will also shop for the holidays. Happy mylotting!

I prefer shopping on the last week of October and the whole month of November. By December you will be busy with Christmas gatherings and wrapping those gifts. You can shop last minute (because some of the good items are being release during last minute) but to be sure always try to avoid holiday rush. I usually buy items from divisoria and quiapo, malls not all items in my list because it is much expensive than with wholesaler stores. This year I want to try buying online maybe multiply.

Hi sweetloveforeve! Take your time for the holidays. Make it special either by making something special and being creative in terms of the wrappers, use some crafts as per our fellow mylotters advice. Being able to share what you have or just being with the family, i think is the best present & special way to celebrate this christmas time. Happy mylotting!

i normally do my holidy shopping the day after thanksgiving.
i know, i know. that time of the year is a busy time of the year.
but i think the day after thanksgiving is the best holidy time to go shopping.
so many sale opportunities. and ample amount of time before christmas to do holiday shopping.
just thinking about it. thanksgiving is right around the corner.
can't wait!!

I tend to do it all year round, as if I see something on offer or if I have the cash to I will buy it at any given point. I don't like shopping close to Christmas as becomes a hassle due to people who are in a rush, I don't like shopping in busy places for this reason.
This year I started buying presents a few months back and soon enough we will have our numbers and everything sorted. It's really frustrating if you leave it too late, as the good presents tend to go quickly.
Out of stock everywhere and then you have to start looking for fresh ideas.

Hello joey_matthews. Agree! I am a bit sad to know & see people always wanting to rush for gifts every year for the holidays. You can't choose the best gifts & sometimes tends to pick the available ones just to complete your list of presents. We all should try it early this coming christmas. Happy day to you!

I don´t buy Christmas presents but I´m already taking care of that. I make jams to give away and now is the time to collect jars, recycle tham, wash them well and put them away.
I´m also on the look out for the ingredients to make preserves and chutneys (those I give to other people).
I will probably have a cooking session of Christmas cookies with my two younger grandsons and that will be my Christmas present for them.
As you see. it´s all in the kitchen for me.

This is an unusual year for me as I have not worked all year long. First time ever that I have been unemployed. I am also going away for 35 days beginning the middle of November and will not be able to do my normal shopping.
So I am going to be a bit more creative this year and well luckily too that I do not have to buy as much as before, so I will begin sometime in early December when I am away. It might just work out great as I can see what TN, as to offer that IL does not have.

Hi! I think now is the time to shop, lol. Well for me I don't like shopping with lots of people because I can't choose the right gifts. I like to shop early in the morning as soon as the shops are open. I only have a few gifts to buy and I'm done. Also, I need to buy some Christmas gift wrapping paper.

I mostly do online shopping for Christmas gift so basically whenever I found something interesting and which the person may like then I will order it straight away. But if I do want to do a shopping outside for gifts, then I usually wait until the beginning of December because there's a big market selling Christmas stuffs and gifts with discount around our town. I usually spend less and able to get more since I do have quite a long list for Christmas.
Good luck and have a nice day

I think the best time to shop for Christmas is when you already have a lists of people you would like to give a gift. If you haven't it's best to make a list first then sort out the best gift for each. Making personal gift is better than buying so why not try to make simple craft that would be appreciated by your friends and love ones? If you're a good cook a sample of your dish can be the best gift you can give!

Hi EdnaReyes. Thanks for sharing. No worries i'll give it a try. I also want to do that, making my gifts personalize. Making one very special to give to family members would likely be appreciated more by them. I do want to cook for the holidays, but first i need to learn the basics to make it more special for the holiday season. Happy mylotting.

For me,i guess the best time to shop for presents for loved ones is as early as possible -- so that would be now.:)Since it would give the person more time to window shop and have more options what to give, the feeling of being pressured of buying something for the last minute is eliminated due to the fact that you already bought a gift ahead of time. Buying gifts in bulk may give the buyer the feeling of having spent much,so i guessbuyinggifts one at a time would help.

Thank you for the good advice my friend. I agree with you. Many times & most people shop for the last minute rush & spend more money & not buy the best ones because they lack time. As for now, i choose the best this coming season of giving. Happy mylotting!

I am planning on buying presents by next week because the prices aren't too high yet and there is no mad crowd to go with. I have discovered some good buy toys in a mall somewhere and plan to spend P500 ($10) on toys that I will give to an orphanage. For family and friends, I plan to bake Christmas goodies.

And that christmas has passed and another one is upon us. It is now a year after you started this discussion and so I have to ask if you got all your shopping done way before christmas or did you rush around and do last minute shopping?
And what about this year? Are you shopping now for christmas? It is the end of October and that time of year again. I don't have to shop for christmas presents much anymore. I live far from my family and drive for 13 hours to see them all for christmas. All my nephews and nieces are over 18 now except for 2 nephews so I only have the 2 nephews to get for. In our family we have so many that we decided years ago that once the nephews and nieces hit 18 years old we wouldn't buy them gifts anymore because it just gets so costly since there are so many of them. So now I have 1 nephew that is 17 years old and 1 that is 16 years old so pretty soon they are off the list too. I just give them each $30 because I wouldn't know what to buy them and this way they can accumalate all their money and buy what they really want. Everyone just gives them money...so no shopping for gifts for them.
Then I have my daughter who lives with me and I spend about $100 on her so I have to shop yet for her...and then there is my son and his wife that I spend about $150 on so I still have to shop for them. And then I there is my granddaughter who will be 2 years old in Nov. I have to shop for her yet too. But I shop for her all year long, every time I see something that I think is cute, I buy it. So I already have a lot of gifts for her. And then I buy something small for my mom, like a blouse or something, because she doesn't like to recieve gifts and really means it when she says she doesn't want any.
So I don't worry about shopping because I don't have much to do. I will start watching for things as I am doing my normal shopping and I will find something for the people I have to buy for, or at least get some ideas of what to buy. I still have a while to think about it. The stores are all open late already so they don't get too busy. A lot of people shop late in the evening or at night and I probably will too.
Good luck and happy mylotting my friend,
Chris

Yes christmas is right around the corner, and thanks to your post I think that I may try and plan out my shopping a little early this year. Right now I'm in college and I can't work as much so I don't have any where near as much time to work and that means no where near as much funds to work with. I'm hoping that I can pick up some more hours though for christmas break. I'm probably going to start setting aside bits of money for christmas though so hopefully I'll be little bit better prepared.

Christmas is swiftly approaching and so is the Christmas shopping season. Christmas almost always means that there will be a number of additional expenses. Many people forget that Christmas spending goes way beyond the gift giving. Little expenses start to add up and our wallets start to empty sooner than we expect. Christmas often means that retailers are trying to lure people into their stores with great deals. The Christmas shopping season is only a few short weeks but stores want to maximize their profits. Some retailers are starting their sales earlier than the traditional Christmas seems to create within most people the desire to overspend. Each day there is the temptation to spend money and too often people give in. The Christmas season tends to cause people to overspend more than they plan. Take time to make solid spending decisions with the Christmas budget.

Hah. I buy my christmas gifts throughout the year. Something I know that the giftee won't be getting anytime soon. So I buy a gift every month. Like for my goddaughter I bought her a dress. I mean, what's another dress right? It's added to the wardrobe. For my mother in law, decorations for the house, for my father in law a shirt, for my dad a flash drive, for my mom, i'm not sure yet. Maybe some perfume, or something. for my 2-year old daughter some toys. For my seven year old daughter I'm still planning on getting her a barbie doll or maybe i'll get her a tamagotchi, or some computer game. For my hubby, he said he'll settle for a new shirt and underwear. For the househelp, some new shirts. Just immediate family this year.
That way I avoid the christmas rush, and if I leave anyone out, I still have money to spend for gifts!

The best time to go shopping for the holidays is now. There are pre-season holiday sale that you should try to grab because if you go shopping on December, everything will be expensive by then and you won't be able to choose well.
