Ipod touch/Iphone

I want to get an ipod touch but am not well off. So am saving for it.
Everyone seems to say that the Ipod touch 2g is rubbish. I don't want to get the Ipod touch 3g because it doesn't have a 16gb model as far as i know. So any help on what to pick, just to let you know my budget would be around 140 pound and I want to get one around 6 months time. I know its a bit early am just very cautious.

Well, I'm using an ipod touch 2g, and I don't understand why they say it's rubbish. So far I have no problems with mine. I have the same applications as what my friends, who has 3Gs. The functionality of an iPod Touch depends on the firmware itself, since it controls what applications you could put in your device. The generation of the ipod does not control the applications that you could place on the ipod, it's the operating system or firmware.
