Do you think that we get even lazier as we create new technology??

Homer Simpson Brain (if we don't use technology to - This is a small version of our brain (actually, it is Homer Simpson's Brain). What does this have to do with our laziness? Everything. If we don't use technology to our advantage (meaning using technology to learn things, not to eat cookies n cream for dinner, or play Pac-Man for the entire night), then the laziness will zap our brains into useless material.

Lazy?? Technology advancing?? That's not good. It should be us getting smarter as we create technology? Anyways, I once heard my grandmother say that the more advanced technology is, the less advanced (in terms of brainpower) we are? Do you think that way, or something completely different? (Note, I heard my grandma say that about 5-6 days ago)

Most definately... are you old enough to remember prior to a TV remote? You had to get up and get a little blood circulating to change the channel! Heaven forbid! Because there weren't as many channels...people had to find other things to do with themselve instead of being couch potatoes. Cooking a meal...lot of work for the best ever, but with nukers these days....zip, dinner is done...and so it the family conversation and time together! Do you remember when you had to get up and go answer the telephone? and even DIAL a phone number instead of the new fangled "speed dial".. we had to remember phone numbers or keep a address book (for phone numbers, not email addresses!) and actuall put your finger in the dialer and actually move your hand to DIAL the phone number. Yes, most defiantely people have gotten more lazy with new technologies. We used to play games on the kitchen table and move pieces and deal cards and hand out money and make decisions...now it is just tap tap tap with the thumbs and play all by yourself and no effort at all! I like the "old" days!

In case you haven't noticed, I haven't even hit 20 yet, and yes, I agree that the "old" days (before the creation of the internet, and even before the creation of the TV (if you're really old enough (mid 60s to 80 years))) were much better for all of us. It's a bad thing that more people are born way after the good stuff happened (playing games on the kitchen, 1980s style monopoly (of course, in the 1980s period) cards, soccer, outdoor leisure, etc...). I guess they won't even know, and the most disappointing thing is that those people (born in the 1940s-1960s (at least the number of them on this planet)) are going to die off by the early 2020s, and the last of them will die on average in the 2030s or 2040s.

Nope didn't notice your age. I grew up in the 60's and dad said that there were far more important things to do than sit in front of the one eyed monster so we didn't have tv, but boy did we have fun with games, crafts and using our imaginations. so much has been lost thanks to technology...however, lots gained

I think computers and new tecnology makes us physically lazier, but I don't think it makes us less intelligent. I don't think a day goes by that I don't research something. I'm constantly learning new stuff. I am positive that I am more intelligent today than I was 5 years ago before I had a computer. Today I learned that Hippos are related to whales, I never knew that! :)

I agree. We are getting smarter as it is easier to learn...however...more lazy. We can turn on the History channel...but used to be (had they had History channel "back then") we'd had to get up off our duffs and go turn the channel knob on the tv instead of just sitting there with a remote!

You have to use your brains new gadgets. So new tech actually, makes one smarter. If one is health-conscious,then the physical side can also be taken care of,like having a Home-Gym etc.Well,it depends.....

I think it's because new technologies coming out nowadays are designed for less man-power that's why it seems that. I think more and more of us get more lazy cuz of this but it really depends on the person if he/she is gonna be affected by this.

I think to some extent yes. Kids who are born now do not go out and play as much, often do not like sports as much as I did when I was a kid and so on. But it also has good effects, which is that new technology enables us to have time to do other things because technology saves time. So I am not against new technology either, I just think it needs to be used wisely...

No, I don't believe that we get less brainpower with the technology, against it, we get smart every day, we have to read more, we have to know new technologies and we have to think more faster than before.

Well, technology is meant to make things easier and faster. Due to that, of course there are some that would take things for granted. It's a fact that we can't deny. And of course they will be lazier. So I guess it's up to us to use the technology wisely and make sure our brain wouldn't be degraded into the same level as Homer as well. I don't think it's that hard. My brain is not that puny to begin with.

The more that technology gives us , the less we have to do for ourselves. Technology does make our lives easier. it can also make us lazier for it.

i think that is one huge drawback of the new technology. i hope there will be something that will help to make people hard working.something that would be a result from technology. but i have no idea what it would be.

In my opinion, that is not actually true because the more sophisticated technology is, the more expensive things become even just our basic needs. So this is making us worry a lot and work harder. Yes, we may able to buy a car then drive it to work but we still need to earn money to keep paying for it and for fuel. We may have an Internet nowadays to email and contact friends instead of writing a letter but we still need money to pay for the Internet subscription. So, practically this technology will not allow us to be lazy but to work more otherwise we will not even able to taste how good it is to be able to use technology and make things faster.

Yes,I agree with you.The human being doesn't want to do work soo bad, that they'll put their brains into work real hard, just so they won't have to work.I love people!

Technology has been an important role in our daily life in this changing and challenging times.I believed that we need technology in order to have better results and minimize our effort in both business and social demands of our life.It is in technology we lived for knowledge.Innovations has been a key role why we have technology as our support to our daily errands. One thing is,Technology really help us.I dont believed that it made us lazier even more, despite its depend on us.We have to balance of its usage, purposes, and role.

I think as Technology gets wider and newer in the world. People are starting to get lazy, that's true. Just like when the elevator is invented. Many people now use elevator often than to use stairs, why? Because they are lazy enough to walk. So I can say that because of that the health of the people are also affected. Another example is the invention of email in the computer. Because of that, people are stopping the old way to get mails. It's a sad news though. But people who value the old ways of sending mails continue to write letters through a sheet of paper like I do. So, I know that as the Technology Widens People Became Lazy.
