Do you think robots will eventually destroy mankind?

That is really an interesting question. I think that i can rephrase it as is mankind capable of creating a new form of life? Because in order to be able to willingly destroy mankind they will have to be sentient, capable of autonomous decision and basically able to take decision regardless of their programming. I think that even if it were possible to create something like that, it would be absolutely wrong to give machines that basically do repetitive and boring stuff a consciousness to understand their condition. Machines are good to us because we can use them, we don't have to ask their opinion and we don't have to convince them to do things our way. They just need the proper progamming and they will do what we tell them. Any kind of machine that is or will be helpful to mankind is based on this concept. Creating a self-sentient machine just makes no sense. Maybe someday (even if i doubt we will ever be able to do so) we will have the capacity to create an artificial intelligence, but anyway i doubt it will ever be put in a position capable of doing any harm to us.

Maybe we are all robots. I was going to say, in response to the beginning of your questions, that technology pretty much has surpassed our ability to control it: cell phones, internet, t.v. and in a sense can be already leading to our destruction! Possible.
