Remember friendster? Yes, it was your old buddy on the net. Now, I think each one of us abandoned friendster with the rising popularity of facebook. Most of us are product of friendster. Remember those times that you have of circle of friends with friendster? and also your circle of friends abandoned friendster for facebook? Yes, facebook caught-up friendster flat-footed. With the facebook game environment, it rises to a more powerful social network site. FarmVille... This is the game application that lets you and your buddy build more in a virtual world. When FarmVille gains strength... The death of friendster becomes eminent. Some time ago, owners of friendster lost some of their shares to this once "on-the-top" social networking site. And lately, they intend to sell everything on it. I do not know if friendster owner sold the whole friendster lately. But with this, we can say that facebook left friendster on social networking site race by miles and miles away. Leaving friendster loose its popularity. How about you? do you think facebook is far better than friendster that is why it rises as the powerful social networking site? Does the game FarmVille attributes to facebook's rise? How about you? Why you move from friendster to facebook as your main networkng site? Any thoughts to share about this?

I never had friendster before it is not really my favourite site to go to. Facebook is the first social network site I joined to. I think to make your site more popular and outstanding, you have to provide some kind of material that will keeps it alive like games and such. Just like Facebook did. That's my opinion.

I started way back social working since my early university days up to now so me and my friends got it first with friendster since facebook is only test application. And today..Wow, facebook rises so fast in popularity and magnificently boosted with games and application. I agree with this. Thanks for dropping by with this discussion to share your views.

It is really a big difference and I don't have to wonder why that happened. Obviously the applications offered are way far from each other and most of Western people don't know anything about Friendster because they are more familiar about Myspace, Hi-5 and other social networking sites before Facebook arrived. About games, well thats one advantage Facebook got and the online chat that Friendster don't have. Although I just enjoyed to place those flash applications on my page by sharing it to friends as comments.

Well in the first place i don't think friendster was a success yea . It was the hackers and spammers that caused friendster to collapse that make people switch to facebook in the first place yea . I do think you can play thoese games in friendster or the website of the games itself yea.

I guess I had already abandoned my friendster account already since I already forgot even my password there ! Haha. Even before facebook, I logged in my friendster account once in a week or even less than that, unlike facebook I got to do alot of things like games applications where I can spend during my free time and a lot of friends , former classmates, relatives and who knows who else ! I just love facebooking !

Hello melcaden, I still have my old friendster account. but i don't go there much, probably 3 to 4 times a week. there is one friend of mine who never joined facebook for reason that i don't know. friendster should never be forgotten because it was one of the pioneer sites. but like facebook, friendster became unfriendly because of the trolls. not to mention the creation of different accounts there. So, am glad that i discover mylot. facebook is only for those people with i have encountered in my life to be reunited with them

I also have my friendster account although I don't open it much as I used to before. If I'm not mistaken friendster is popular only in Asia and did not really spread to much in the other parts of world. While on the other hand facebook gained popularity all over the world.

I've never been a member of friendster. I have heard of it a few times but really only the name. I dont know anything about it other then its some kind of social networking site. What makes facebook better? I love facebook. I used to be on myspace for a few years then I got sick of it and quit going on there. Then a friend told me about facebook and I checked it out and signed up and have been addicted ever since.

I guess so the only reason I am at fs is to get the pics and load it to my facebook i think its the wall and the chatbox that made facebook alot easier to communicate with friends.. in fs its hard to know if your friend is online or not unlike with fb you are really connected to everyone!

Hi ! I am neither on Facebook nor was on Friendster. But, I do hear a lot about Facebook. I certainly sounds like a good social networking site. I might open myself an account in it one day. Who knows ! Facebook might loose its popularity one day ! Cheers :)
