Do you live in the USA or abroad? Do you plan to attend college soon or just planning for the future? If you are in college now check the Internet for scholarships and ask your financial aid office at college about possible scholarships or work study where you work at jobs in the college and get paid. Scholarships are probably your best bet at the moment but you will have to work to get them as many others are trying. First check your school to see what they have to offer - people often donate money or even leave large sums of money when they die to the collage they graduated from to be used as scholarships for students going to that school. There are also many scholarships given by companies, individuals, and other organizations. Many of these have very specialized requirments which means you have to check out many before you find ones that you qualify for but it can work to your advantage if you find one that you qualify for and very few others do such as something like a scholarship for a person born in a Tuesday in Pennsylvania whose ancestors came from Latvia (this isn't a real one but I have seen many like it). Check the Internet, starting with Yahoo Finance and the MotleyFool.com. There are many free sites with scholarship directions and help. DON'T PAY FOR SCHOLARSHIP FINDING SERVICES. While most (not all) are legitimate, why pay them to do what you can do yourself? Besides, what they usually do is just search the internet and send you a list of scholarships that you MIGHT qualify for which means you still have to do most of the work yourself. Finally, have you considered your local Community College to start - they are usually very inexpensive and you can save more by living at home. Here is a link to an article I wrote on funding a college education - it works best as a way to save for young children but, if your parents have whole life insurance this could be a source of a low interest loan for college. Here is the article: http://hubpages.com/hub/Funding_a_College_Education_with_Life_Insurance Good luck.
