The VFW is donating dictionaries to 3rd graders in different schools. Yesterday, the schools to the East of us and today, a school to the West of us. He says that he loves to see their faces light up. It makes his day. Do you volunteer? Do you make someone's day? What kinds of things do you like to volunteer to do? If you don't volunteer now, did you used to? If you don't volunteer, what kinds of things would you like to volunteer for?

Someone actually walks up to you and asks you to volunteer? For what?

My daughter volunteers at the school where my grandson goes. I volunteer in the mall at christmas handing out flyers and I migt help at the Salvation Army with the food baskets this year. I do about one day when i can. Can't stand for long and if they get nasty about me sitting some of the time then I just leave.

It's good that your daughter volunteers at your grandson's school. I've never understood why people can't stand up or sit down as necessary to do a job. Standing all the time makes for vericose veins. My back doesn't like me sitting all the time. I always hate jobs where you stand all day. it's like if you sit, you aren't working. The proof is in what you get done. Not whether you did it sitting or standing.

I am just really out of shape from depression and being in bed all the time. I can't stand for very long with out getting dizzy. If they don't care for it I just leave. To heck with them!

Volunteering and donating are two things that I always feel good while doing. But to be realistic, I have never been that much of a donor till now...my financial conditions don't permit me that much of it :( I do volunteer as and when possible in our society though... Your husband is doing a nice job

They have funraisers for the money to buy the dictionaries. We don't have $ to donate right now either. So volunteering works better for us.

Volunteering is a noble work. I spent my college days with Red Cross and health/ community service organizations. I love doing community service.

Try to join your husband's organization. I'm sure you will enjoy helping others.
