Are people so obsessed these days that they simply just cannot be interrupted from their favorite gaming sessions.
Just read the news a 22 year old girl plead guilty to shaking her baby to death, because the baby was crying which interrupted her farm-ville gaming time. OMG, are we as people truly that obsessed?? I am not much into gaming so I cannot understand the obsession. She could be facing the rest of her life behind bars.
I cannot get over this, WOW, poor baby. Okay parents a gentle and kind word to you all PLEASE do not allow and or encourage your children to so much gaming time as it will become such an obsession that they will not be so rational to determine when enough is enough. Wow, wow.. I will not get over this...

WOW OMG! I can't believe a mother would do this to her child! It's very true that people get so obsessed with games. My brother and fiance play Call of Duty on ps3 all the time. Its like pulling teeth to get a response, but I couldn't imagine one of them hurting someone for interrupting their game. This generation plays way too many games and I can admit that. It's pretty ridiculous sometimes but its sadly true.

Yeah too many people today are truly obsessing while neglecting so many responsibilities. It is a shame though that they do not realize the bad effects that it causes until it is too late.

As a mom, it is always so sad to hear the bad news like that. I don't understand why some parents can be so irresponsible. My child is much more important than myself. I try to make him happy and I want to be a good mom and friend to him. It is true that I have less spare time since I have a child. But no matter what, he is my child and I should sacrifice for him. I will be happy if he grows up well.
I love China

I so agree with you and certainly would do all and end all for my children. Pity that she will now realize that after the damage has been done. Why people do not get this to begin with is beyond me. At 22 years old you would think that perhaps she would not be such a great mother but we are suppose to safe guard our children no matter what it takes and quite the contrary with her. So sad.

Yes, I remember when I first heard about this, and some of the other insane things that people are doing just to be able to have FREE time to spend online in Facebook games, etc. and it really makes me wonder. I know there are times I spend a lot of time in here, but I do also make sure when my husband is home if I am up to it, to spend a little time with him just catching up etc. Personally nothing online is too important to forget about my husband and home life for.

Hi Tina!
Lord knows I spend a lot of time here, but as you with my boyfriend at home I too know when to have a balance between here and with him. Sad that this situation had happened and this woman was so obsessed with her gaming.
There is no comparison to what we do and what had happened in this story as our personal life would always come first and foremost.

Holy Christ! That is absolutely unbelievable! I don't really know how addictive that farm-ville is as I never played this game before, but that could not be more important than a baby, how ridiculous. I do play games to but not to the extent of killing a baby for it. I hope this girl will be punished for what she did, she should not ever be allowed to have a baby again in her life because she is dangerous.

That's very messed up, it's not like Farmville will just die if she stops for a little bit to take care of her kid, but no, she goes berserk and kills it. What a way to ruin your life. I like gaming, but you always need to stop to do other things too.

OMG, this is really very sad, we are human??? Humanity ll be really ashamed of it, because no one else, a mother did this thing. OMG, gaming is this much special for us, that we can kill our babies.
I too play farmville but I am not so much involved in it, I even work during my gaming and even if a friend call me for help, I leave my game and go to him, but this is so tragic, this is really the cruel face of humanity....:)

It truly is as how can something so precious, such as a child not be as important as a silly game. I understand how people get so obsessed but to kill an innocent baby. Something else presented on the news where as a woman now is banned from using computers as she was starving her children and dog because she was too busy playing online games.
Ugh.. too very sad to hear all of this. Balance I say.

I hate to say it but I think with the way the times have changed and really turned in to not just a generation but a trend in our thinking of "ME". I know everyone is guilty of wanting to do what they want to do and not be disturbed by your child almost daily. But you are right there is no excuse to shake a baby because she wanted to play a video game on FB more than feed her child change diaper ect. It only takes a few minutes to feed the lil one, the game will be there when she gets back from caring for her child.
Sometimes it's wise to know when your focus is too much on the wrong things like video games (tv, texting ect... notice all electronic distractors) and that it's time to step back and really notice whats passing you by because you are glued to some gadget.

Quite a shame indeed how gadgets have take over all of lives. Oh yes I too can be quite attached to all trend setting gadgets and do get perturbed by interruptions. However there is a line you and I do not cross.
She apparently had some psychological problems as well, shame that some cannot come to grips and accept I have a problem. See if she would have given the baby up maybe she could have worked on her psych problems but no the obsession apparently was too deep.

That really is really truly sad that someone do that over something so stupid as a video game and Farmville for goodness sakes. Surely the game was not more important than her baby, well apparently to her it was. So very sad. There are so many wonderful people who want babies and can't have them and this poor baby goes a mother like this one. Truly sad indeed.

I know it does pain me to hear of such instance, when I first saw the news I thought OMG farmville. I go not get it. How some people get addicted but farmville for some reason I just cannot grasp.
But apparently there are many others that have done the same thing and as you say it is very sad to hear this.

OMG...I didn't hear about that. It amazes me that people that are that selfish even have kids to begin with. That poor baby. It really bothers me when there are so many people out there that can't have kids naturally and maybe can't afford to adopt, but then other people get pregnant and can't raise their child because a stupid game is more important. That is really sad!

Apparently in her case she had some psychological issues as well, known the less in the same news story another young couple were charged for starving their own children and the family pet, while they were raising a cyber baby. Go figure some people are just plain nuts.

Ok I have been obsessed with quite a few games in previous years, and I did get kinda irritated when I didn't have internet to play them, but it never got really far. I can never imagine someone killing someone intentionally or not over a stupid game, but I guess it has happened now.

Yeah the problem is deeper than you and I can ever comprehend. In the same story they mentioned a young couple were arrested and charged with starving their kids and family dog as they were too busy raising a cyber baby. Huh, seriously now. Life is crazier than you and I will ever comprehend.

Farm-ville is from facebook, right?
I was with friends last night 'chaperoning' the kids as they did their trick-or-treating, when our discussion came to facebook, how evil it is. A few examples were brought up on how it breaks relationships, or how it ruins people's careers, but most of the talk we had was for how the games in there takes so much of our time (thankfully, I don't!).
Then this news article of yours is just one example that could be the worst outcome of the this online habit. Too sad.

Yeah this has to be like the worst of the worst as many people are adapting to so much convenience that they are sort of forgetting to balance a great deal of their responsibilities.
Luckily I have never been addicted to anything per say and well do not know how I would have dealt with it, as I have seen so many "normal" people utterly addicted to so many silly online games.

That 22 year old mother is obviously sick in mind. I cannot imagine any sane mother that will do such thing to her children. Facebook games are addictive, no doubt about that. My own kids were kinda addicted with their games too. Sometimes I don't know what to do about it. So, I limit their time on the internet. Me, I didn't even bother to try any online games in my life. It does not interest me at all.

I have to say that I have tried and somehow do not get the concept, on how so many get so addicted that they neglect their responsibilities. You are doing right by limiting your children gaming time, as if you don't then you risk them later becoming very neglectful with their future responsibilities.
So keep up the great work as you are doing well.

It certainly is really awful and becoming a very common problem. How on earth can anyone take precedence over an innocent baby.
I would respect anyone who give up their child as oppose to hurting them. If only she could have recognized her mental and gaming addiction prior to the occurrence.

what?!?!?!?!?! is this even true? wow irresponsible!! i mean i have kids and i do online games, i love playing games but i know where my limitations are. when it comes to their needs, it must be prioritize first. tsk tsk.

It is quite true my friend and it is a bigger problem than you and I can ever comprehend. Wow, is my first reaction, as when I see a baby I want to hug and kiss the baby especially when they are crying as they cannot speak up and tell us what is bothering and or they are needing.
You are doing a great job at balancing as you are human and you deserve a tad of fun as well. Keep up the great work.

It is amazing how the world had evolved these days where people are not so caring as they were before. We just need to be informed on how the world is living and make our own judgments as to what is best for us. Thank you so much for responding.

That is the extreme I guess. Killing a child so that she could play? If she could not take care of her kid, why did she give birth to that baby in the first place. There are heartless people out there and they do give birth to children and all their life, keep torturing them. She seems to be a menatlly unsound person. And gives a heavy feeling in the heart thinking about the baby.

From what I understand she has OCD and other mental disorders so it is on the extreme, although even in the same news report a young couple was charged with starving their children and dog while they raised online cyber babies. Go figure how the mentality works for some.
I am thinking being that I am not much of a gamer, that it takes a great deal of skill and astute to actually be so obsessed, so my question is why they are not smart enough to get some help before resorting to killing a child.

Some people really lost their mind when they are obsessed in something, for example gaming etc.... When somebody interrupts them during their obsession, they can't control their anger and might produce certain unbelievable behavior. Anyway, we can't do much to stop this from happening. Only thing is we need to learn from this example not to lose control of our temper when people interrupt us on something we are doing. Think twice before acting...
Good day to you!

You are right it is on how we learn to handle things as I am sure in some form we do obsess with certain things and probably get frustrated while being interrupted so next time I myself am interrupted I will certainly take a few deep breaths and think twice. Thanks so much for your advice.

That is so sad news. Who would ever do that to a baby so fragile. I think she is sick because people can determine between reality and what is not real. I think she should undergo some psychiatric test behind bars. I am not really addicted to online games. I am into The Sims 3 but I can always set is aside for some work to do. It is really weird how she is so hooked up with farmville when in fact it is one of the worst invention of all ages. How could she ever do that to her own kid. I hope I would not hear some gruesome news like this. Obsession with such games should not be continued.

Unfortunately for her it is too late the damage has already been done, even psychiatric assistance at this point would truly not fully recover her. As when she comes back to reality how much life could there actually be for a person who intentionally kiss an innocent baby.
I don't know why people obsess to this point, quite a shame indeed.

Whatta shocking news!!!! I can't explain what I feel right now after reading this. I can't believe that this is happening in real life. This is the dark side obsession, too much is definitely not good and would just bring the worst of things...It's not healthy not only to yourself but also to your environment esp. to people around you. Losing an innocent life with a shallow reason is the ultimate disaster an obsession could bring. Too bad... Hope the girl could still wake up from her great nightmare, just change for the better for she can't undone the tragic incident, she's still young to spend her whole life in bars..she still needs guidance.....!
