Hi wealthy,
I am from south but I don't know about 'pongal'. I am living in north now and breakfast may be, chappati, bread, uppuma, idli, dosa etc. Now the cool season started, everybody at home prefers chappati (roti) and it can give warmth. Since kids are there and they need Tiffin for school I will prepare different breakfast everyday so that they won’t get bored with the same stuff. By the way Maggie/noodles are their favourite but I won’t prepare it for school because it may get cold at the time of eating and may damage their health.

hi sree
nice to see your post. pongal is made of rice and dhal. just cooked like rice. and the thing is it is added with pepper and other things with ghee. you can get the method of preparation from any southindian neighbour or through internet. nice to know your kids menu also. keep in touch.

Hey walthymouli, I am from Chennai, my favorite is Idly, vada, chutney and sambhar. At times I also have Idly podi with idlys. Of course my all time favorite is a Crisp Dosa with the same side dishes.
I do not prefer to have pongal in the morning, the reason being, for lunch also I will be taking rice. So in order to avoid taking rice more than once, I avoid Pongal.
