NU 107 CLOSING DOWN. Where now, Pinoy rockers?

The home of new rock, for the past 23 years is breathing it's last airtime on November 7, 2010 or some say til the end of this year. This radio station has been the lone surviving rock radio station in Manila. So where now Pinoy rockers? Where do we get our daily dose of rock now? Who will support our independent rock and alternative Filipino artists?

This sucks...I have been a listener to NU since 1988...I still remember some of the old DJ's who started this out.. Gees this is like telling my age...NU started out with a second hand transmitter and defied the laws of mainstream radio. Some of the old Dj's I remember Tom Lupton, Joey Mead, Ron T (He is really Old ..No offense to Ron) Eric the patrolman, claire, Joey with Zac sitting with jessica Zafra in the morning show...hmmm who else..Charlie Y the fattest one of the heaviest DJ's of NU next of the heaviest is Roxy and Joey, Indira God rest her soul..francis ..ummm I think he also started when Nu was still young and yeah when he is still young..Myrene loves the 80's.. I know a regular caller of nu back then ..He is known as Mr. Slaw....................to cut the story short....NU was my life

I'm a huge fan of NU107. Specially when i was still in college, those times i was still paying guitar with band mates, i get my inspiration in that radio station. I'm sad about what happened to the station. I've heard about it last Red Horse MUZIKLABAN, they announced it there. I'm not really sure of what really happens, if this decision comes from the station manager or the management itself. But there's one thing i'm sure of, the NU107 lost quite a bit against to those other stations. We all (Filipino) know that most of us now goes for the POP and HIP-HOP music instead of ROCK and Alternative. That's when NU107 started feeling the decrease of radio followers. But despite of that, i'm one of those who stayed. I really like NU107, i'm sad and sorry for what happened. I hope we won't forget about the Filipino Rock artist we once cheered, think about Parokya ni Edgar, Bamboo, Rivermaya, E-Heads and all others. Their songs were played in NU107 before and some rises to fame because of NU107. In most cases you will only hear there songs in NU107, other radio station never played even one of their song. Just remember, Rock on!

I just hope were not too late for this. But the way i see it and i'm sorry to say this, i think were no match to the management. Even if we show them our full support we won't be heard, their minds were already fixed into something, the new layout of the program. Sorry guys.. But let's just rock on!

From what I heard, management is reformatting the station, but rock format is totally out of the picture. It has been said that they are looking into converting it a mainstream mass audience radio station. Sell-out!
