Pitch Black... Silence... Cold... Empty... and your next neighbor could be millions and millions of miles away.. Yes, I describe what is in outer SPACE. For some it is a solitary solitude of life... only on Earth.. But for other? They are out there.... Waiting for us..
There has been so many attempts that humans made costly mission in space just to see "something" might be out there. From past to present, nobody wants to slow down, different countries want to participate. But for what cause? We really don't know. Maybe its for a portion of fame and pride or somewhat recognition.
But don't get me wrong, I have nothing against space exploration projects. I do support it but I think its the moment for the meantime we stop this nonsense and try to concentrate what will be beneficial to us living humans on Earth... Billions of money was straightly walking away.. plain and simple. The world is in great crisis both in environment and financial. I don't know what they have in mind, but for me stopping this project for a certain period to use funds to support GLOBAL development would be a better idea. "We are trying to reach somebody out there.." But for many times, what we have proven so far? Only the news... "HURRAY theres water on the moon.." And So???"... "And For what?"
At this moment, I do believe that the Earth needs everything it could get to us humans as the "care-taker" habitat so it can rehabilitate and us...people of the earth could eventually also uplift our status. I think they are using millions and millions of dollars and even billions for space exploration yet we go hungry... Even the mighty US is feeling already the global financial shake.. So what we do then? We wait until we all perished?
I write this discussion because I think it is time for us to heed a call that we need to take-care something... Our own Earth... before those nasty aliens we are trying to look for but we don't know where are they... I think it is time for us at least to take our space exploration aside in certain amount of time to make the funds be available to where it is mostly needed...
How about you? What do you feel about it? This is just a discussion but maybe some of you are thinking the same or may have an idea that "Oh my... yes this is really happening...we go hungry while the money for rocket boosters are easily burnt..."
Lets try to think about....

The idea of those who are in charge of these are different.Besides,Space Exploration has benefitted in many ways, like whats underground and has helped in Archaeology, just one example among many.Astronomy, with the Hubble etc is the other one that comes to my mind.
The main aim Military Superiority.
Suppose An Asteroid or any other body from outer-space is to crash on Earth someday.Space exploration may help,be prepared and even save Mother Earth, from such a calmity.

Hello vijay12,
Thank you for dropping by with my discussion...Your comment is appreciated.
I think I did not say to stop this. For me, space observation is okay. What I said we need to minimize is space exploration. I think observation and exploration are two different thing. And maybe "CUT" the funds to what is unreasonable like that E.T. Hunting, its not that important for the moment. We are going and going further away in space... the further, the more money we need to spend... That is why I am saying about the costly rocket fuel...We can fund it by millions and millions but billions and billions? darn, its a lot of money, how many lives they can save? how many trees they can plant?. Earth is in trouble right now and I still believe, we should know how to prioritize.

When will our leaders learn that we are looking for better life and not better arms... Something wrong isn't it?

This is a serious topic to think about. Each country is spending a lot of money in space exploration. I also think this money should be used for the benefit of human. There are many people who doesnt have money to buy food. Why we should search for some aliens . Instead spend this money to remove hungry of people. All people are created by god. if so they all have the right to have sufficient food, cloth and shelter. There are many poor people in countries like Somalia. First of all a solution for those people should be obtained, and then only we should go for space exploration or any such things.

Humanity has become so divided that we don't want to attain a single goal. Just to take for example, we can move to take care of the environment like reforesting and pollution elimination so that mother earth can have her breathing space... But why we don't do it? Because we don't prioritize it. It is just that we human want to reach the far beyond and be with the stars but in reality, we only got one planet that we need to restore...Earth... And we the living humans have gone to so many problems but we don't intend to join hands in solving our problems... Its just a dream for now.

I fully agree with you and would like to add that not only this space explorations but also huge military expanses should be stopped and the money saved by this should be invested in saving the earth.
I have strong feeling that instead of alliens we need to worry about the earth and the human kind. Our own people are acting in such a way that they are likely to destroy our planet soon.
Another thing which sounds funny is that some people talk about having cities on Mars.... When we are not able to save our own planet we are trying to fled to other planet and spoil that one also...!

Knowledge can solve all problems. The funny thing about knowledge is that you never know where it will be discovered. Scientific research of any kind is worthwhile. You speak of feeding the world. There is enough food to feed the world today. Why doesn't mankind do it??? Pollution? All our energy could be green. Why doesn't mankind do it??? They are lacking in the knowledge that it is a better way to take care of this planet and it's people. Until enough people understand this, people will hurt. This will happen until it is discovered that it is easier to change.

Knowledge is power... And information is so powerful it can create and destroy nations. But since humanity is far from gaining an idea of doing wht should be taken care first.. Humanity rises on different conflicts..

We definitely need money help out our current situation with world economy. We are in the deepest trouble, and we might need some money to boost this economy up. But you have to think about the space exploration project is not just for the fun of it to see whether we are the alone in this space, galaxy. Sooner or later, we might exhaust the Earth's resource, don't you think of it. Not in our lifetime will be exhausted the resource, but for the future, or generation after generation, we need to look for new inhabitable place to live outside of the Earth, don't you think? It might be for the benefit of future.

Hi kingparker,
Thanks for dropping by this discussion, your comment is appreciated.
The Earth will be exhausted of resource? I also think it will, the problem? because we don't give back what we take. Great nations can come together to start to fund rehabilitation of earth, but they don't like... What lies to the future of mankind when the world goes at war because of conflict with food and supplies? I think we need to learn to give something to benefit, aid and cure the present situation of mankind and earth as a whole and learn to prioritize. And then later, we can go back on things on what humanity like to spend... I think millions they can do this funding of space projects, but for billions? Its a lot of money to benefit mankind already. Why billions? Because they want to go further and further away...finding for life on other galaxy... the further we go, the more money we need to fund... I think this space activity is too much for the moment since we need to take care earth and the human race. Like I said on this discussion, we can suspend this projects for the meantime and reactivate later. Thanks... and have a nice day!

Mankind sure knows how to waste money and resources and lives doesn't it? We should work at uniting mankind, eliminating wars that waste resources and do nothing positive. A united mankind could then eliminate hunger, disease, crime. Once we have our home(earth) in order then unitedly we could explore the universe. Does nobody watch Star Trek?
