Weird solutions - do they really work?

I don't know how I've developed weird ways of making my self better. Maybe these were suggestions in the past that were suggested to me that had actually worked. Maybe it just has a placebo effect on me, or it really has a scientific value to it. So, when I have diarrhea or an upset tummy, I drink half a cup of beer. Soda also usually works. My friend even suggests eating saltine crackers with the soda and it will work. When I have menstrual cramps, I tap my abdomen several times, and the pain goes away. When I get drenched by rain, I take a cold shower, and the next day, I'll feel fine. If I don't, I would usually end up with colds. Do you also have these weird habits that seem to work? Are they really helpful, or is it just the belief that they could be helpful that make them effective?

I honestly do believe that there are a lot of homeopathic remedies that really work for different ailments that we suffer from. When it comes to the upset stomach one, I know that it works when you sip on a clear soda. It helps to calm your stomach and it also helps one's body to maintain the correct electrolyte balance. In addition to that, I've been able to avoid getting sick when the rest of my family has gotten the flu or something like that by sipping on drinks through the day and not taking in any solid food.

I think there's also something about sipping on just drinks. In some Asian nations that really are into spicy food, they need to cleanse for a few days by having a liquid diet. Maybe it works the same way with you, too. When you just sip on drinks, you de-toxify your body and so goes away the complications brought about by the toxins in our body. Our bodies do have self-healing powers when we allow them to.

I have often heard of household remedies but really have put any to practice. The only thing that some find odd that I do is that when I get headaches, which is very often, I ties a really tight bandanna around my head.
Most say that is weird as I am applying pressure to pressure. Well It does alleviate when nothing else works as I feel it like a deep massage.

I would agree on that it would feel like a good massage. In a shiatsu massage, the masseuse (I hope I spelled that right) would press on pressure points. So, that's probably how the bandana on your head feels. For my headaches, years ago, I heard that pulling on your hair relieves the pressure. So that's what I do. And true enough, when I get a body massage, the masseuse would gently pull on my hair.

I really have no idea lol. Why am I answering you then, well, because this is an intersting post. I have a list of things that should work for someone when certian things go wrong, but I've never applied any of them, maybe I should experiment and see. You've encouraged me to try the more "whatever" approches to cures and whatnot, thanks.

Right. There are just things that work well for people that don't for other people. It's a matter of knowing your own body I guess. But, of course you need your doctor's approval for things that are really serious. I mean, those that I've mentioned are petty aches. Thanks for the response!
