Yes, Vitamin A is good for eye health. I don't know why. Maybe it repairs damaged cells in the eyes. Also good for recovering sharp eye sight is the substance "Lutein" found in green leafy vegetables.

Hi Gunjan,
Lack of Vitamin A causes eye weakness. So you should maintain the right diet.Your diet should contains lots of VITAMINS.Particularly,Vitamin A should be more in your diet.Vitamin A can be found more in fishes. You can eat fish for the increase amount of Vitamin A in your body.If you are a vegetarian, then you should take more vegetables.Carrots and Spinach are rich in Vitamin A.When your diet contains more amounts of VITAMINS then your eye sight would become more clearer.Since you are having weak eyesight you should not watch more hours of television and computer. You should avoid reading books under dim light.
Have a happy day.

Vitamin A, a fat-soluble vitamin, helps the body in a number of ways and is essential for good health. A vitamin A deficiency can lead to a myriad of mild to severe health problems, and in fact, vitamin A deficiency is the leading cause of preventable blindness worldwide. Vitamin A is essential to maintaining healthy vision, bone growth, reproduction, and even cell division and differentiation. Maintenance of the surface linings of the eyes, the intestinal tracts, and the respiratory and urinary tracts is not possible without help from vitamin A. Vitamin A is also important to the immune system and plays an active role in fighting and preventing infections. Some foods that are good sources of vitamin A are whole eggs, whole milk, liver, some fortified cereals, and darkly-colored veggies and fruits, such as spinach, elderberries, and kale.

Vitamin A deficiency results in night blindness, follicular hyperkeratosis better known as Toad's skin, dryness of the conjunctiva that is xerosis, recurrent respiratory infection. So prophylaxis is suggested mostly in underdeveloped & developing countries with vitamin A 1000 IU daily for infants & 1500-2000 IU for growing chilren. Your problem, I think, is altogether different. It might be a case of refractive error. But your doctor has ruled out that probability. So I apprehend it might be due to excessive use of computer. Put a protective shield over the computer, practise some ocular exercises especially convergence exercises, use artificial tear substitutes 3-4 times daily and again go to an ophthalmologist for repeat check up of any refractive error as I myself cannot rule out the probability of it from your statement.

Well definitely yes, it is true. Vitamin A helps maintain a god eye sight. There are many eye vitamins on the market which can help improve your vision or maintain good eyesight. Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Lutein are more important in the prevention of cataracts than according to the medical journal of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. These are probably the best eye vitamins on the market right now. Lutein is responsible for filtering out dangerous UV rays. If your eyes are unprotected, then you may lose vision very soon. Some studies have shown that zinc and Vitamin C can help in decreasing the development of macular degeneration. These are some good source of vitamin A liver, sweet potatoes, carrots, mangoes, spinach, cantaloupe, dried apricots, milk, egg yolks, mozzarella cheese.
