4 Days ago I started a discussion requesting prayers for my baby cousin who has some heart problems. He's only a month old when he was admitted into the hospital because his heart rate was too fast and had to be rushed into emergency surgery- a bypass. Since then, there has been other procedures done on him and he's on a lot of medication.
However, the good news is that prayers have been answered. He's still in Children's ICU but yesterday they were able to take out a few of his tubes and he's off a few of the medication. He's still hooked up to about four monitors and is still receiving several doses of medications on a regular bases, but for the first time in days his parents were able to hold him.
He's semi-alert and responsive. Once he gets his voice back, he'll probably be screaming his lungs out (he now silently yells for attention). I just wanted to thank you members who did say a prayer for him and the family.
Being in the ICU, surrounded by children who have so many heart troubles is a very humble experience. In the room next to my cousin's was a little boy about 8 months old who had already been through three surgeries and was being prepped for another one while we were there. I just had to count my blessings and pray for anyone who has to go through anything similar.

I only read about this today since I haven't logged on for months. My prayers are with you. I feel for you and the parents of the baby. I have a one-month old daughter and I know how fragile babies these age are. They're only starting to appreciate the world. For your cousin to be put through that much at such a young age, it must be really hard. I'll continue praying for your little angel.

that is wonderful news. It takes something like this to make you think and count your blessings doesnt it instead of worrying over petty things which we all do now and again. hugs to the babies mum and dad and you x

Hi vjenkins, I am glad to know your baby cousin is all right. Had it not been a heart surgery, I would have said that his young heart helped him through the operation. (I just want you to smile.)
It is really difficult if the children are indisposed. They look so fragile and so helpless, and even clueless about the critical health situation they are in. We tend to pray that we are in their place instead. But when everything is over, we see that the children are as happy as if nothing serious had happened to them. I am sure your cousin will be screaming his lungs soon. He will keep the family busy, so gear up!

lol. You are so right. They do look so helpless and defenseless that you want to trade places with them in a heartbeat, but afterward they bounce back like nothing or very little happened.
I agree, he will be screaming his lungs out soon and it will probably be a wonderful sound (for the first few times) lol.
Thank you and happy mylotting

I havenot read your post before, but it is good sign that your baby cousin is recovering. My prayers are always with him and family.
It is really hard time for whole family, when ever there is one person in critical condition, the whole family suffers. We, from here, can only pray for him and other children and patients who are in their serious condition, May God bless them all and give them health.
Be happy and be the reason of happiness for others...
