I am...I guess that's okay since I'm still a teenager. [em]happy[em]But I've observed some people already in their late 20s that are still living in their parent's house..is that okay? In America, I think, kids grow up so fast and immediately move out of their parents house... But here in the Philippines, people still stay in their parent's house even if they already have children of their own... Because of no money for another house and many other reasons. When do you think is the right time for a person to move out of his or her parent's house? Me, I dread that day...I don't even want to think about it.

It is ok to stay with your parents until you get on your feet.... but after that you have to move on and fly from the nest.

I live with my parents, but that's because I am 18 and I don't have no job and I am also going to college right now and I really can't live on my own right now, but I do hope to move once I get enough money to support myself. Living on your own is something that I want to be able to accomplish so that I can be independant and free to make my own choices. Right now I am still treated like a kid by my parents and that is not really fun. Because I feel that I am still like 15 or 16 they don't even let me hang out with my friends so that's why I have to move out soon so that I can get some freedom here don't get me wrong I love my parents, but sometimes I need my space you know anyway great discussion.

I fell the same way.. My parents are quite overprotective of me too and sometimes it gets a bit annoying. but I love them and I know they just do it because they love me too.

I am still living with my parents and that is only because I am still attending college and I cannot afford to live on my own. My parents won't allow me to live alone until I get married anyways and that is not anytime soon. Maybe in five years? As I am only Twenty years old! I live in the United States. I think the best time to move out is when you finish school or have a successful stable career where you can support yourself. I am hoping by the time I am 24-25 I can officially move out on my own!! Good luck for you too :)

My parents won't allow me to live alone too- especially my mother. Yeah, I certainly agree that after finishing school is the best time to leave the house so you'll be fully prepared. Good luck to you too.

I like the idea that young adults, a year after college should move out of the home to learn to be independent, budgeting etc. What happens to Filipino homes is that the children stay for as long as they can so they won't have to pay for house rent, bills, grocer and stuff if they decided to move out.. in short living a life of a freeloader haha.

I think whenever you're really ready to. There's a common American thought that living with you're parents too long makes you a social loser, but I don't agree at all. I sort of have the best of both worlds. I technically moved out when I was 19 when my then-boyfriend got his own place and I moved a bunch of my stuff in there and spent most of my time there. However I still stayed at my mom's a few nights a week and still do and I've been married over two years now.

Actually, in America it is becoming more and more common for people to live with their parents into their mid-20's. I don't, but also I work abroad so it would be impossible. I know many who do. I think it is just a sign of the economy these days though, more-so than I cultural thing.

I think early 20s should be the right time to move out. Better yet as soon as you reach into college. That is the way i see it. I am also a teenager so i am not out there as yet. but i really want to leave there.

When we are young, we often can't wait to be out on our own. Leaving home is a sign of growing up to us. When we get older, we often wish we were back home with our parents. it is a circle that never seems to end.

Frankly, i like the american approach when it comes to this. The urge to be independent is pretty much what i need. I still live with my mom but she moved here in my place so technically speaking, she's living with me. I don't mind that, of course. I don't mind living with family members.
