How do you like your steak? Half cooked or well-done?

I seldom eat in a fine dining. I prefer ordinary foods in ordinary restaurants. I once went out with some friends. We have a friend who have just came back in the country after few years of staying in New York. We went to a hotel in had dinner in an international restaurant. Most of us ordered steak since it's the safes food we can it. I was dismayed when I sliced the meat and I saw a juicy red fluid in between. It's raw! Some parts are cooked. Of course that's the only portion that I ate. I finished eating fast. My friend noticed that my food is barely touched. I whispered to her "the meat is not cooked". She sighed. She called the waited and had my beef cooked. Well-done! ^_)^

I usually order my steak medium-rare or medium, however, I am not opposed to having one cooked medium-well or well-done, as long as the meat is not dried out too bad. While I prefer medium-rare or medium, steak is good however it is cooked as long as it remains juicy.

Hi, I think i had the same feeling as you did the first time i saw someone eating a bloody steak. Luckily i never had to eat a raw steak. I worked in a restaurant that offered the steaks rare, medium rare, medium, medium well, and well done. To me they are all raw if they are not well done.

Oh my! You've never tried steak cooked medium rare? You should definitely try it at least once! I promise it's not as scary as it looks, its very delicious. For me, well done steak seems a bit too...powdery? I think that's the word, I like mine medium rare because then, it is still a little chewy on the inside without all the bloodiness.

Eaten in fine dining? I don't think I ever have. hehe I like my steak medium well so there is just enough redness that there is juice and it is tender. I love to have sauteed mushrooms on top. I think it really adds to the flavor. A good steak says is tasty but I think it tells any cook she didn't marinate it right.

whew! medium well...i've learned so much. I am not used to the "technical" term of how a steak is being cooked. :-) Thanks a lot! ^_^

I never like my steak well done. it always needs to be a bit on the rarer side to please me.

I like it medium rare. I do not mind rare steaks either, but well done is not for me. I don't know why, to be honest.

I see. I guess most Filipinos are not so accustomed to "not-so-cooked" foods. That's why when ordinary people, like me, go in a steak house we simply can't stand it. We just can't stand seeing the pinkish color like it's bloody in between the meat and the bone. Sometimes we would even have it a little over cooked. ^_^

I love a medium-rare steak. About three shades of pink on the inside and nice char on the outside. Drop it in a really hot fry pan to seal in the juices and then when it almost there to point of perfection, .... take out and place on a cool plate. The cool plate stops it from continuing to cook.
Oh man, now I have steak crave on... Mmmmm slurp....slobber...
