I have over 200 friends and all are known to me either as school mates, college mates, tuition mates, colleagues and neighbors. I rarely add friends who are not known to me. I add them if i can meet them or know them via other friends. Its extremely risky to add unknown friends. I hope all of you agree too. Facebook has lots of problems due to this and has resulted in murder of one of my friend's friend. The more we get a chance to interact with our friends all over the world, the more risk is there other side in social networking. I wanted to share this with all of you friends so that you will be careful. Dont give your personal information in those sites and be extremely careful. Share your thoughts on the same.

On my Facebook, I only add people I know like my old friends, current friends, family members, co-workers and only people I know. I don't like to meet people I don't know on the internet because it is unsafe.

I always think twice before adding or accepting a friend request on facebook. I always use the picture as a reference. If I don't recognize the name and the picture. Sorry, I do not hesitate in pressing the ignore button.

When I hve joined facebook I started to play with the games (maffia war, etc.) and to collect people to my "maffia" I have added a lot of people as friends. Nowdays I am bored with the games and majority of my new friends are those from the real life. But I didnt regret to have so many "friends" (I have 2000+ recently). When I created a fanpage to my photoblog I invited all my "friends" and majority of them joined and liked it. So such way facebook became a cool channel for me.

I have over 400 friends in Facebook. These are my grade school friends, high school friends, college friends, friends from various organizations I'm in,and relatives. I do have lots of "friends" on Facebook and I know them all. But still, I don't disclose personal information like my address, mobile number and whereabouts. I keep details of my profile private.

I agree with you. We should consider our safety first before trying to be the most friendly person on Facebook and accept all our friend requests. Unfortunate as it seems, online sites especially social networking sites have been used by some people for their criminal or unlawful acts or ways. It's already a fact, it has been reported by several news programs. Social networking sites can't control the people who joins and abuse their site, even law enforcers. Having an account on these sites such as Facebook poses a great risk of encountering one these bad people. We can, however, avoid such people and be more safe in using networking sites. We can do this by only accepting friend requests from people who we really know, those who we really have met. We should modify or edit our privacy settings as well, so that only our friends get to see our personal information. We should also be careful in giving our personal details to everyone even if they say we have mutual friends or they're related with someone whom we know, we should check it first. It's important to be cautious, informed, and sensible when dealing with people online to avoid becoming a victim of crime and injustice. =)

Your absolutely correct. I would never add someone I don't know in real life. You never know if it could be some kind of stalker or internet predator. You never know who a person is if they are behind the computer screen.
