Am I Too Old For Trick Or Treating?

I must admit that I'm not a child, but I am a teenager. My last year as one, to be exact. I stopped going trick or treating on Halloween my first year of high school and I'm sad that I stopped. So, this year, since I'll have nothing to do, I'm going trick or treating with 2 other friends. I shocked my parents when I told them I was going trick or treating tonight. (Hey, ti's more than going to a party! )

So, do you think there's an age limit for trick or treating? Do you think I'm too old? Do you allow your children to trick or treat on Halloween? [/b]

As long as your dressed up (in something appropriate of course) , then I don't see why not. It is better than going to a party.

I agree that is better than going than a party too! I'm going to be dressed up as a witch. My friend is bringing me a witch's hat and I'm wearing a Gothic jacket.

A friend of mine told me that the've put in an age limit for trick or treating. She said it's just for 12 years old and under. She said this was to prevent bigger kids from scaring people.
Now, having said(written) that, I did go with my kids in their rounds of trick-or-treating the other night. I was also wearing my own costume, and one guy from a house we visited threw me a treat for my costume.

I would probably say something to you if you showed up at my door...yes. I think that's too old...at your age there should be something more entertaining then going trick or treating! My kids are grown....but my grandkids aren't and they don't go either....just to the parties that are safe.

My granddauhter is going to be 19 next month and she still goes out trck or treating. She loves it. Her and her mom used to get all dolled up in their costumes and take my grand son out. SHe has always gone out. I don't think there is a age limit. There isn't an age limit on acting like kids is there?

I stopped going trick or treating when I finished attending Middle School. I don't see anything wrong with trick or treating at your age if you're dressed up at least with a costume. I noticed a lot of older teenagers going trick or treating in ordinary clothing and I feel that is unfair to the ones who actually dressed up to recieve candies!

Well, I wouldn't do it myself as a teen, but I see no reason why you shouldn't. When I lived with my parents, we would have teenagers come to the door. A lot of times their "costumes" were pretty lame. It was obvious all they wanted was candy, but they felt they had to do something to look like they were trying. But regardless, I always gave them candy.

I got a lecture when I was 12 from an older teenager, who told me that had better be my last year trick or treating. I continued to trick or treat until my first year in college. Why shouldn't older kids be allowed to be kids too?

Here is my personal opinion with what is wrong with the world today: Too many kids are growing up too fast. Why not go, hey you will have a good time. See too many kids 15 to be precise feel so grown up and grow up too fast.
I say let the kids be kids and you in my eyes you still are one as well, no pun, just saying that life is too fast. My success with both my kids is that I allowed them to cherish their childhood and live all childhood dreams. When they felt ready that is when they became responsible adults, which by the way I now have a 24 year old psychologist in my family.
He still dresses up, is very responsible but when I tell you he knows he is my son, who enjoyed his youth as much as he could and well what I am saying with this is that go out have fun enjoy your youth as much as you can.

Ah the magic of childhood. Teenagers are usually a bit old for actual trick or treating but i find that losing touch with the whole halloween thing leaves one personally unsatisfied. I think that as a teenager it would be nice for you to accompany smaller children and act as a chaperone for them. They will always remember you for your kindness and you can dress up and maintain a connection to that childhood magic. Hey, people will offer you treats also. I did that for many children when i was an adolescent and many of them still remember and thank me now that I am in my 50s.
