Vote For Me and I'll Tell You What I'll Do AFTER I Take Office...

That sounds pretty preposterous, doesn't it? I mean, wouldn't you think it would be impossible for someone to get elected to ANY office, let alone the U.S. Senate with that kind of campaign?
Well, that's pretty much what we're getting from Sharron Angle, either in so many words or by implication. She's said some pretty weird, not to mention unpopular things, which she's either taken back or modified immensely - or both. She's often claimed she's NEVER said something she CLEARLY said...apparently Sharron sometimes forgets the miracle of modern technology. Once you say something on TV or the radio, it's there FOREVER.
Anyway, we've all heard all of the argument for voting AGAINST Harry Reid. I get that many people don't like him much for various reasons. What I haven't heard is a good reason to vote FOR Sharron Angle.
Any takers?

I'll pass, can't think of any reason to vote for her. Her views are just a wee bit conservative for me besides I'd rather make progress than digress.

She will make for some serious entertainment and comic relief.
But, outside of that, I think a vote for her would set America back, big time.

It would be comic if so many serious issues were not riding on her decisions. Sadly, there are more like her that may get to Washington. She claims to be a constitutionalist. Huh? I live in Nevada and frankly, she scares me.

Sorry Annie, can't help you there. I am amazed that the senate race in Nevada is so close. Are people listening to what is coming out of this woman's mouth? If we had a relative talking like her we would be trying to get them to a doctor and on medication. I do not understand.
I guess it is the same voters who say I don't want government in my business and leave my Medicare alone. We have to forgive them for they know not.

She makes the classic movie "dumb blond" look like a rocket scientist, doesn't she? Also, doesn't everyone love how she says these stupid, outrageous things with that same smile on her face all the time, as if she has some kind of secret none of us know about.

Sharron Angle should win and will win. Dingy Harry is corrupt and half-senile. How could you possibly be alarmed by her comment? Your very dear stretch pelosi told the American people that they would approve obamacare first, and then decide what was in the bill. That is criminal, that is democrat!

Regarding Obamacare - I stated elsewhere, we had to experience it in tangible form so as to counteract all the hyperbole.
And now that we are - it ain't going nowhere. People under 26 got to stay on their parent's insurance, kids who were denied insurance for preexisting conditions are now able to get medical care.
More and more benefits will come up.
One that I didn't even know about is that by 2013, every doctor who takes money from a pharmaceutical company will have to post it on a website for all to see.
You want to see a momma grizzly? Take Obamacare care away from one whose kid benefitted.

ladybug, I agree with you there. To put such benefits (important benefits) in the hands of people that need them, and then decide to take them away is a terrible thing.
It is amazing that most of obamacare will not come into play until after obama is out of office. Figures!
The revamping of the entire healthcare system in the U.S. is a huge undertaking, and I am more convinced than ever, that it is way too big of a task for our current mode of government. The government policy side is taken care of. The correct people, and committees put together the information to make up this 1000 page bill. In this case, it is totally a democrat work product, as Republicans were excluded. (bipartisanship obama style).
The contents of a comprehensive healthcare bill has almost unlimited consequences and impacts for individuals, businesses and government. The majority of these significant issues really needed valid discussion from all different aspects to make sure the best decisions were being made. I do not think this happened, since few really knew what the bill contained.
I think careful planning could have pinpointed ways to fix specific areas and make an existing good healthcare system better than it ever was.
Last point, a nation's healthcare system cannot be best designed when we are looking at individual cases and personal hardship. The design must be from a higher level if it is to succeed. That success may depend on scaling back obamacare in ways certain people do not like.

I wouldn't scale it back. I would make it single payer, like most other civilized nations.
Did you not watch the healthcare summit, or Obama addressing the republicans in office? He was willing to listen to practical and doable ideas.
To insure 300 million people will cost money, and the republicans said they had a way it wouldn't. When reviewed by chief economists, they all proved not to work. They had no plans.
The mandate was originally a republican idea when Hillary Clinton championed universal healthcare.
Much of this has adopted republican ideas. But because they didn't get 100%, you call it a half compromise.
From the GOP team itself, I bring you FOX.

The only reason I can think of that they can use at all is that she isn't Harry Reid. Otherwise, the idea that they even think she's worthy of election when she told news agencies they weren't welcome to be around her and she wouldn't answer any more questions until she was elected should be enough to remove someone from consideration. But, these people don't use reason. They use hate and fear to make their decisions. What's she going to be like in Congress when she doesn't have a clear answer to give the Speaker of the House or during an inquiry into whatever? Or won't it matter to them as long as they get Reid out? Even the traditional GOP of Nevada knows what a nightmare she is and is supporting Reid.

I get the vote against Harry Reid angle but to vote for someone anyone just because you do not support Harry Reid is beyond my mental abilities. If the case is that a sizable portion of Nevada voter think that Reid is incompetent to be their Senator why elected someone who is even more incompetent than Reid.

It seems to me that we were told that we had to pass the Health Care Bill to find out what was in it.
Senator Reid pushed through the Stimulus Program before anyone could read the thousand page bill.
Senator Reid was willing to "Assume" the bill passed and not vote on it.
Senator Reid was willing to spend millions of your money to get the Health Care passed.
Senator Reid was willing to use the reconciliation process to pass Health Care Bill when he can't get Democrats to support it.
If you do not support these things then that is a reason to vote for Angle.

Apparently she took a lesson from Nancy Pelosi and others when it came to passing Obamacare.
"But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it..."
Even though I support Sharron Angle, I can't say I like that approach from either woman.

I don't think anyone is going to answer that question! When I posted this I actually thought I'd get a few responses from people who would have something positive about Angle, or something they considered to be positive even if we wouldn't agree. I'm about ready to concede this isn't going to happen. I explicitly said in the OP we've already heard the arguments against Harry Reid and I was asking for a reason to vote FOR Angle, but the most popular answer seems to be some version of, "She's not Reid" along with comparisons to Pelosi and Obama. I don't think I've ever seen such a thing before! There's always somebody with something positive to say about a candidate!

Vote For Me and I'll Tell You What I'll Do AFTER I Take Office... OMG that is exactly what Obama is doing ....President Obama: "We have done things you don't know about."...."This administration has done things people don't know about."...Just what exactly has his administration done that we don't know about? Inquiring minds want to know....

I guess Sharron Angle figures if the president can get away with that kind of statement so can she. As you said "Once you say something on TV or the radio, it's there FOREVER." Seems like you forgot about Obama's TV appearance! Thanks for reminding me!!!

When obama got defensive on the late nite comedy show (Stewart), he said that they had accomplished 90% of what they intended to do in the first years. Look at our country and then tell me that this guy isn't psycho! Let's call him looney obama hussein and send him packing as soon as possible.

Sharron Angle never said that - not in so many words, not by implication. A few others have said it - Charlie Crist and Lisa Murkowski to name two - but Angle is not the least bit secretive about the issues or how she intends to vote if elected.
Why vote for Angle? One would vote for Angle if they wanted the healthcare bill repealed, if they wanted true health insurance reform like allowing insurers to compete and do business across state lines. Angle believes it is time collect all the money owed to the Social Security trust fund by those in government who have raided it to fund other legislation and that in the future individuals should have accounts set up that can't be raided. She supports property rights, 2nd amendment rights and believes in extending the Bush Tax Cuts.
I don't live in Nevada but if I did, I would vote for a candidate who held these positions as opposed to someone like Reid who rubber-stamped the Obama agenda.
You would not vote for someone who held these positions. You certainly would not vote for Sharron Angle. So I wonder why you wanted to know all this? Could it be you are considering changing sides if you get a good reason to?

She's said it on several occasions; she's said she'll answer questions about the wars when she's a Senator, she's said she'll answer questions on various issues once she's a Senator.
She's also complained about insurance companies having to cover mammograms, maternity care and "autism" - which SHE put in air quotes. She's talked of "Second Amendment Remedies"...but we're not supposed to be concerned about that. We're also not supposed to be concerned about her talking about privatizing Social Security, Medicare and the Veterans' Administration. Oops, then it became "personalizing" and it may have become one of those things she never said.
You're right, I would never vote for Sharron Angle. I probably wouldn't vote for her even if there were some things I agreed with her on since she's such a flake you just never know what she'll say tomorrow. I wanted to know because nobody had given a single reason other than "she's not Harry Reid".

politicians do seem to make a lot of promises. you know they won't keep half of them. We vote for them and they drag their heels on the reasons that we elected them in the first place.

Politicians make way too many promise. They promise as if they are the sole decision maker. Once they are elected they are part of a political body and culture and their promises mean nothing.
It is more important to actually look at how a politician in office has voted and what he has done. Of course, there is very little truthful reporting of that during campaigns.

Or on the main stream media, which is primarily conservatively owned.
And, coincidentally, they will always stress Obama's middle name as if it has some sort of impact.

...Hi annie, Last but not least...Of all the people running for office this time, this is one woman who I hoped and actually prayed that would lose. I wanted Senator Reid to keep his seat after he worked so hard to help President Obama get health care passed even though he knew the people of Nevada had been programmed to believe the policies would be bad for them by the GOP. For that woman to beat him would have been a devastation. She seems to be less sensible than Sarahlee if that is possible. Thank goodness she lost. Now she can hold a press conference and tell them what she would have done as a senator with her uncouth brain. Take care.

Yes, thank God common sense won out! Actually, at least most of the extremists running for the Senate lost. Buck, O'Donnell, Angle and hopefully Miller. The one I wished would lose that won is Rand Paul - now he's dangerous or has the potential to be if there were enough like him. Of course, among the incumbents in the Senate I sure would have loved to see Jim DeMint get beaten but his opponent just didn't have it.

...Hi annie, Demint has many, many supporters with money bags, it would take a steamroller with much moola to remove him. But I thought I heard that he was leaving whatever position he has there, is he going to run for president?? Rand Paul has stated so far that he will not vote to raise the debt ceiling, get this because he knows it will get passed without his vote. Playing the game already. He is dangerous as all of those with his mindset are. He can filibuster all by himself and hold up whatever he wants too. I seriously think that nothing is going to move and I am so happy that President Obama got most of what he wanted to pass done in his first two years. Smart, very smart. Take care.

I think it is the same everywhere. I either "throw my vote away" by voting green party, who seems to have the most realistic goals and a plan to meet those goals, or pick one of the two candidates that are so deep in mud it will take a crane to get them out.

Wow, that's like saying we have to pass a 2,000 page bill just to find out what's in it. I'm not going to defend Angle or anything, although I notice you didn't cite a source. I'd like to see her comment in context since a left wing blog could have easily snipped something like that without showing what she said following that.
Hmmm... I wanted to search and find this quote before submitting. I must say it really looks like she never said this. Even left wing blogs aren't coming up with her saying anything even remotely similar.
Tell me Annie, are you just making things up to smear her now? Can't you work with the material she's already given you?

I don't know if it's online or not, I saw and heard it with my own ears and it wasn't edited. A reporter was following her through the airport asking her what she thought about the two wars we're in. The last words I heard on tape were, "The two wars we're in is exactly what we're in." I understand, but didn't hear her actually say it, she told the same reporter that giving an interview at the airport would disrupt airline security.

hi anniepa,
i also hate this. what happens when he/she get voted and he/she doesnt do a thing.
i advice those seeking govt position to equip themselves first before wanting a prestigious seat.
of course, this is no requirement but a very good plus plus.
happy mylotting. :-)
