A CBS affiliate in Alaska, KTVA were busted conspiring to make up a smear story against Republican Senate nominee Joe Miller. you can see the transcript here - http://bigjournalism.com/pjsalvatore/2010/10/30/anchorage-cbs-affiliate-caught-on-voicemail-conspiring-against-alaskas-gop-senate-candidate/ There is also audio. Looks like they wanted to accuse his camp of having child molesters or making up other stories. I cant wait to see what this affiliate has to say for themselves. What do you think?

Sounds familiar. Let me see...... Breitbart. Shirley Sherrod. Edited tapes. Hummmmmmmmm. When do we get the true story? Is anyone interested in the truth, anymore? I can't believe people are still listening to this guy. Oh well. You can make a fool of some of the people all of the ...how does that go again?

star - I didnt realize that breitbart had the whole recording. It was my understanding that he aired what he received. Please provide the link showing that he intentionally mislead.

There are no tapes and no editing. There is a recording on a voicemail from a phone that didn't hang up properly and so the room noises and the conversation of those in the room was recorded on the voice mail. The manager of the TV station has admitted that it is real and has not claimed it was edited. They have not denied the accuracy of the recording, they are trying to excuse what the reporters have been recorded saying. This isn't about Breitbart, the truth is the truth and simply disliking Breitbart doesn't change that.

You left this part out. A spokesperson from CBS emails out the following statement KTVA News is owned by the Alaska Broadcasting Co., not CBS. No CBS staffers were involved and CBS has no knowledge of and no comment on these allegations.

No, not generally. In general, and specifically, KTVA is not an affiliate of CBS. KTVA is owned by Alaska Broadcasting Company.

I thought this The following is a transcript of a call recorded after CBS Alaska affiliate KTVA meant that it was an affiliate of CBS. I never said that CBS owned the company An affiliate is a commercial entity with a relationship with a peer or a larger entity. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affiliate_(commerce) I guess I stand corrected?

Here in Wisconsin the press makes no bones about their allegiences. They defend the dumping of raw sewage into Lake Michigan several times a year, yet if a private company or person is seen putting anything into the lake they make it front page news. Gov Doyle goes to Spain to buy trains for his high speed train project. These were no-bid contracts. 3 companies in Wisconsin and several others in the US were ignored. Some of them attempted to submit bids anyway, but the bids weren't even considered. The local press sat on that story until it made national news. Then they reported it, but treated it like it was no big deal. Now TALGO, there is evidence that TALGO (the Spanish company) has given orders to not hire minotiries for the new facilities in Milwaukee. The local press has been challenged to report this, but acts like it doesn't exist. During the current election season, they have printed out and out lies about the Republican candidates and knowingly covered up or denied negative facts about Democrats. One candidate for Lt. Governor (Rebecca Kleefish) is a former television news reporter. Part of her rise in the polical arena has been speaking out against the incompetent and unethical press.

great contribution. Our local press here is so biased that even people on the same side wont buy it anymore.

PS: I have to admit though, it has been entertaining to hear Union leaders and Democrats defending the no bid contracts with a foreign company (over their own members getting the jobs). As I've said before, if you don't like what the other party is doing, just wait a couple of elections. :~D

If I told a lie, stole something, blurted out bad language, did poorly in school, etc, my father would be there with that horrifying belt-slapping sound, which would sometimes catch me. If I stepped out of line, I was put back in it. Nobody came to my defense making excuses for me or trying to explain what "is" is. And pops certainly wasn't buying any type of justification I was selling. I had to learn that I couldn't do that stuff. He was there to make sure I didn't or that I would be called on it if I did. I had friends with no such presence in their lives to correct them. So they're the lyingest, cheatingest people I know, some in jail as we speak. They were surrounded by people who either didn't care or agreed with the dirty sht they were doing. And if there was a positive influence at all, it was too small or too standoffish to register. There's nobody around with that belt-slapping sound to scare media into doing right. If they make up a story, most other media outlets will either run with that same lie or ignore it. They won't correct it. They won't wave their fingers in disappointment. And the public at large doesn't seem to care either. Instead of correcting what's wrong on their side of the fence, it's FOX NEWS' FAULT!! I'm not surprised they tried to make something up. I'm only surprised they were caught.

I would have steered away from the molester case, if the transcription is accurate. Just show all the crooks in the audience, you don't need to be crass, as their is enough nastiness supporting Joe Miller, you don't have to search the audience for someone who harms children. That is far different from concocting a story. They were hoping to catch the lowest form of human supporting Miller, but, they can find that without looking very hard.

Annie - refusing to endorse the winners of the primaries. She called it "poor loser syndrome". That makes no sense dear. The point is, they LOST their primaries

I was just doing a bit of channel surfing and happened to catch Sister Sarah on Fox News. She was whining about certain Republicans, namely Mike Castle of Delaware and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, refusing to endorse the winners of the primaries. She called it "poor loser syndrome". Is that hilarious or what...lol? Annie

Just another reason not to watch CBS in my mind. I'm so tired of the mainstream media's b.s., I've stopped listening/watching. Heck, I can't even get a straight scoop from my local newspaper. And then they wonder why they've lost viewers...

If you go to their web page you will see the CBS Logo there so to me a reasonable person would think they are connected with CBS. While the media does not out and out lie, ther have been stories where they do not tell the whole truth or leave out key facts. In the CBS Interview with Gov. Palin they asked her about her experience i International affairs and the reply on TV was you can see Russia from Alaska, which became the SNL skit I can see Russia from my backyard. When in fact she gave a rather long answer explaining her relationship with foreign government and the importance of Alaska in the world. How many time has the press slanted a story to show what they wanted and not the whole truth.
