What is one thing that your parents told you while growing up that you wish you would have listened to. Our parents tell us a lot of things and somethings we just brushed it off as whatever and just thought that our parents were just being parents. But now that we are grown up there has to be on thing that you wish you could have listened to. What is it and why do you wish you would have taken that advice.
Me I wish that I would have listened to my parents when they told me to do all my work in school so that I could get scholarships to go to school and go to a good college. Instead I didn't listen to them, an I have gone to a college but not a good one and I had to pay for me to go instead of having a scholarship. If I would have worked harder like my parents told me, I could have already been out of school and working a job that I dreamed about doing.
So what about you what advice you wish you had taken from your parents.

My father was not happy the way I was spending money he always told me to save money for my future. Not that I was extravagant spender, wasted money on unnecessary things but I always thought money is something you can always earn need not save it at the expense of the enjoyment in the life. I did not have my bank account even after working for more than an year. I travelled to good part of the world. All these things did not allow me to save enough for my future. Things might have been different had I listened to my father and saved for my future. But even to day if I am made to live my life again I am not sure if I would change anything in it.

One thing I could say its never too late to take the advice of your father. But you know what we live and we learn and it is up to us on whether or not we change it or not. I'm sure that you could save part money and spend the rest. So it is good to take some money and spend on things that you need and that you want.

The good thing is (as I can feel) you didn't have any regret having spent your money. It is good to save.. but it is also good to enjoy the money you have earned through hard work. Well, nothing will be much better with moderation.

I wished I would have listened to them when they told me I would regret dropping out of school..I always thought that I would never regret that decision but I do,even knowing that I would have only made it through school till I was 16 because of health reasons but i would feel a lot better about myself if I would have at least made it that far

How to be good with money. Growing up, my parents taught me a lot of great ways to live within my means and be good with money. However, then I got in the Army and money kind of became meaningless to me. Not that I was paid a king's ransom, but with all my living expenses covered, the thousand or so dollars I made a month was ALL disposable income. Because I didn't blow all my money drinking on weekends, or on big ticket items paid for over time, I couldn't possibly spend all that I was making. I simply quit keeping track of what I had in the bank.
That kind of blew all the lessons I learned from my parents, so when I did discover credit, I went all out.. all too literally.

Sometimes i wish i would have listened better to career suggestions from my parents. I don't always think I made the best choices on my own. Who knows what my life would be like if i had taken better advice from my parents.

The career that you have now, is it something that you enjoy doing. I know sometimes parents give us they're opinion on what career path we should take, but all in the end it is up to us. I know that my mom wanted me to go into a certain career path that she thought was best for me, but I know that I could go through my life working in that field.

That is true that parents do know what is best for you, even when at the time that we think that our parents are trying to do nothing more then ruin our lives. Its never too late like you said, to change the path of how our future is going. I am planning to attend school in a year or two myself and then, I plan on working hard and making good grades and planning on getting a good job. Good luck on your studies.
