Raisin or dried grape can be eaten raw or used in cooking and baking but I prefer to eat it raw rather than when it's being mixed in a dish. I just end up, separating them on my plate (...and I have to avoid my mother's glare when I'm doing that). Maybe I just don't like the taste. How about in your case? Thank you very much! ^_^

I cook many dishes with raisins and other fruits dried od fresh. Favorites for me, besides raisins, are plums and dried apricots. As for fresh fruit, I cook a lot with apples. But I know some people don´t like the mixture of sweet and salty flavours so that when I invite them I don´t use them in my dishes.

I fry diced onions, garlic and spices, salt it and add raisins, olives on cut hard boiled eggs. With that I make a vegetariean shepherds pie, adding mashed potatoes on top. You can also do it with other dried fruit.
I also mix the fried onions and fruit with cooked rice and fill a whole chicken. Then bake at slowly. YUMMY!!!

Hello marguicha! hmmm..so most of the time you're cooking different dishes with raisins? How's the taste, what kind of dishes you usually cook (with raisin)? I'm not sure if I already tried dried apricots before but plums are also good. Apple is one of my favorite fruits and for juice...^_^!

I don't like the sour taste of raisin when it is cooked. Just like you do I will pick up all the raisins from the dish before I have the dish.

Thanks for responding, why should I mix it in a dish if I'm already enjoying it when it is raw! ^_^

I like raisins. It's one of my favorite snack. Raisins taste good, and they also have a number of health benefits. There's a lot of calcium in raisins, which is necessary for the bones. They also contain boron, a micro nutrient which helps with bone formation and assists in the absorption of calcium by the body, thus protecting against osteoporosis. Boron is also necessary for joint health.
