The major cause of global warming is the emission of green house gases like carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide etc. into the atmosphere. Scientist all over the world are making predictions about the ill effects of global warming. The effect of global warming is increasing the average temperature of the earth. It is the duty of every individual to help to stop the global warming so that we can save our planet. What are you doing to help stop global warming ??

There are more trees now than there ever has been.

Is that true Irishidid? It's a fascinating statistic if it is. What's your source?

is it glib of me to reply simply - 'not enough' sadly however issues like global warming hit the porrest hardest, big companies just see it as another bill to pay, rich countries encourage recycling and hippy natural companies gve everyday pricy alternative. meanwhile the poorer world carries on as if nothing changed. the country i am in now has just started to recycle plastic bottles.... just started! they don't have the luxury to buy more environmentally friendly cars, or the infrastructure to really change their emmissions. sadly we can't take care of each other, let alone the world we live in.

This is a really important point I think gfeef01. But I'd like to add something in response to your last line: It's not as though looking after 'us' and looking after 'the world' are separate, or even opposing, things. In fact, the whole point is that in order to look after 'us', we need to not pollute the place where we live. You don't need to care a bit about trees in and of themselves, but the point is that we need them to survive.

There is a line in a song that goes 'save the trees and kill the children', it's sad but i think sometimes environmentalists really do get their lines drawn wrong. I'm all for saving the environment we live in, frankly i do care about the trees, but i care for the children more, and if that means the environment suffers a bit then so be it. it's all good to teach a man to fish but he may starve before he catches any, I'd say we need to weigh our environmental issues similarly.

Climategate = Global warming,a trick by the Globalists to impose carbon tax and carbon Trading. They may even come up with Carbon Currency,if they succeed.Global warming is misused to impose technologies in which the developed countries, have the upper-hand.Hence they can make their economies boom with Wind-,Nuclear- and Solar- power.Global warming is reported to be a big hoax.

Vijay, please. How could it possibly be a hoax? You understand scientific method, right? Do you understand that the huge body of evidence on climate change occuring and being manmade is the collective work of thousands of scientists worldwide and not the product of one person or government or company? It's just completely ridiculous to believe that such an astounding hoax could be pulled off. You'd have to either compromise all the scientists in the world individually and/or alter every tree ring, every layer of ice and every thermometer in the world just in case some scientist decided to look at them. Just accept facts. Then start thinking about how we can make the effects harm fewer people.

Okay, thank you for starting this one, quiet awesome and impressive you know. I hate this thing actually, this humidity really exhaust my energy specially if i am outside, that effect is very obvious now, and i guess everyone of us can feel it. We can start from the basic, i know it is not too late though, me can start this at home and at work. First thing we can do is dispose our garbage properly, specially those plastic containers. It is really not advisable to burn them. Then what else? Plant more trees? Well thats only applicable in the outskirts community, but if there would be a tree planting program in our local government, then we can freely and kindly volunteer to save the eart, and to save the humankind in the next and next generation...

Walking outside inside of driving when you can can go a long way. Those trips might not seem like they are going a long way and sending that many toxins into the air. However over the weeks, months, and years they can accumulate and if there is about twenty people or so who would make similar trips, it can keep growing, and growing, and well you get the picture. I think that some people do drive when they really could walk. It is actually a multi-purpose thing when you think about it. First, the obvious stalling global warming. Then it saves you money and also gets exercise, which is a thing for many people. So doing more walking and less driving is something that I can do. It might not seem like a lot but every little bit does help and make everything run a lot more smoothly.

I don't agree with the common opinion on the set of the reason of the globle warming. I think the globle warming my like the earthquake or valcanian eruption, it should belong to the natural disaster. What we should pay more attaintion is how to response to this temperature change especially the most urgent places along the sea side and the islands in the ocean. Global warming is a trending in the future or it just be the nature's character in a period, I don't known???

I think you're right that we should be working very hard to think about the consequences of climate change and how the effects can be made less severe. But I have to very strongly disagree about climate change being like earthquakes or volcanic eruptions. The staggering amount of change to the climate we're observing is overwhelmingly caused by human emissions of greenhouse gases. And yes, it will continue (because what matters is the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, and they get reabsorbed into the ocean, for example, only very slowly).

I do some things to help the environment. I recycle some rubbish as my local council gives out bins to put it in. I also turn off lights that don't need to be on and use energy saving bulbs where possible. I turn off appliances at plugs at night and throughout the day when i'm not using it. I don't drive a car so that helps.

Not a darn thing seeing as the earth does what it does and has done for as long as it has existed. If you really think humans can cause any damage beyond what the earth does to itself, you're sadly mistaken.

I'll do a little first as not to burn garbage if it still can be used for anything else such as other plastic and then I also planted grass or at least only a dwarf tree and plant waste that can be made of fertilizer and replace glass with plastic

I am doing following things to stop Global warming 1 Using CFL bulbs instead of high power bulbs. 2 Saving Electricity to the best of my ability. 3 Making my balcony green by planting and watering twice a day. 4 Using energy efficient appliances 5 switching off the lights and appliances when they are not in use 6 Taking bath in cold water unless their is much need for Geyser.

I think global warming cannot be stopped but we can reduce it.. first thing and easiest way to reduce global warming for me is use energy efficiently and plant a few plants but, there's many people say it hoax. i don't know about it fact or not, although i will still use energy efficiently and plant a few plants
