As far as my knowledge is concerned, I think five rings of Olympics depict the five continents. Why can't we have seven rings depicting seven continents?
Any idea?

As it says in the Olympic Charter, the five-ringed symbol "represents the union of the five continents and the meeting of athletes from throughout the world at the Olympic Games."
The Olympic Rings, thus a Symbol that represents the 5 (inhabited) continents of the world: Africa, America, Asia, Europe and Oceania/Australia.
