"Baghdad, Iraq (CNN) -- The death toll from a hostage standoff at a Catholic church in Baghdad has risen to 58, police officials with the Iraqi Interior Ministry said Monday. Seventy-five others were wounded in the attack by armed gunmen Sunday, the officials said, adding that most of the casualties were women and children. Two priests were also among the dead as well as 17 security officers and five gunmen."
Will hatred and violence ever end? Is this a portent of the future?

Sadly, peace and security cannot be bought by any human governments no matter how hard they might try. Hatred, discrimination and violence will end , only after God's great day arrives, when Jesus Christ will come down to restore humans everything they lost, including everlasting life. Then we can imagine peace and security. God will “bring to ruin those ruining the earth.”—Revelation 11:18. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, neither will they learn war anymore.”—Isaiah 2:4.

I'm totally in agreement with your statements. May that happen soon, as the world is getting crazier by the minute.

Hi formidexo, Hatred and violence will end when people everywhere come to realize that we are all one. It doesn't matter what religion one subscribes to or if they have no religion at all. We must learn to accept everyone for who they are instead of trying to make them into carbon copies of ourselves. Blessings.

"When people everywhere come to realize that we are all one." Do you really think that is possible?

I think some good people will realize that but as for the majority of people they will only understand violence. Maybe that's why the Bible speaks of the war of Armageddon, a war of God against evil people which sadly make up the majority of mankind.

The violence is getting worse all the time. As we know from the Bible, God has permitted the evil until now for a good reason. But He will not let it go on much longer. He has planned to give the rulership to his Son and put an end to the violence.
This scripture, that talks about the future King of the earth, is so comforting: "In his days may the righteous flourish,
And abundance of peace till the moon is no more." Psalm 72:7(New American Standard Bible)
We are so many who long for this to happen.

So true! Righteous people hate to see violence and pray for the day when it will end.

I agree with the others that hatred and violence will not end until Jesus comes as described in Isiah, Daniel, and Revelation. The sad fact is that many people hate and don't even know it. Psychologically, hate is an irrational emotion which many times cannot be seen by the person who possesses it. Thus people get on the bandwagon and follow movements that blame groups of people, religions, politicians, etc. for when things go wrong. They don't try to think that things are more complicated than a simple point of the finger. If brainwashed, they will kill if told to and they don't care who they kill.

Sad to see that happening. Hopefully God will soon end all violence but until he intervenes we will see more and more acts of senseless violence.

I don't mean to put down any religion but I feel it is wrong when a religion preaches that either you believe or go to hell. This is too extreme in my opinion. People must understand and accept that there are other religions. Religion is a sensitive issue and people should refrain from saying bad things about others.
Many of such wars are avoidable if people is more senstive towards others.
