I want to work at home and I can't find many things to do that pay that well. I am out of the mode of correcting grammar. I would like to proofread, assemble projects or something. Some directories cost money some don't. Have any ideas?

If you want to do something like that from home, DO NOT fall for the companies that ask for money up front because they are total scams. They'll take your money, send you the materials and, inevitably, will tell you that your efforts "do not meet our standards", so they won't pay you. They are ALL scams! Are there any manufacturing companies near you? Are there any printing companies, publishing companies, anything like that? You need to personally go to each company and ask if they do or would consider using someone working from home. You may just get very lucky doing that! My first work-at-home job came that way. I asked if they used home workers and one of them said YES. They also said they needed someone to work from home at that time. Not only that, but they loaned me all the equipment I needed to use to work from home for them. I was typesetting from home. They gave me instructions and a book of codes so I could learn the codes needed for typesetting and I studied them every chance I got until I got very fast at it, thereby making more money since I was paid on a "per keystroke" basis. From that job, I got another one with another company typesetting and proofreading. After that, I found several companies that used proofreaders working from home. I worked from my home for 20-some years and loved it! A lot of these companies began outsourcing to foreign countries, though. However, I've heard that more and more companies that were outsourcing are now using home workers from this country again since more people are willing to work for less money now. You may get lucky if you give it a try. You have to do the legwork, though. You will have to go to or at least call the companies in your area to see if they could use your services. Oh, one more thing... these companies will NEVER ask you to pay a fee. Only thieves ask for money upfront.
