Okay, I have to admit, I was impressed by that movie "The social Network", which feature the success of facebook creator, Mark Zuckerberg; and there is a guy also involve with the development of facebook depicted in the story, which is Shawn Fanning, the creator of Napster. I wasn't sure if that is a truth, but I was wondering with both great programmer genius, what programming code do they use to develop the facebook and Napster? Does anyone know?

I'm pretty sure I can answer this query :)
Facebook is a website developed in PHP, which is how Facebook allows you to do things like, send messages, have profiles, write on walls. PHP is the main language used in the functionality of Facebook, and it's a somewhat complex language, which is why it looked so impressive in the movie.
Obviously, Facebook does consist of other languages such as CSS, HTML, SQL, and JavaScript/jQuery. CSS is the language of design, HTML is design and interface, SQL is database work, and JavaScript allows you to do more complex things, such as handle data, log IPs, etc. jQuery is a JavaScript library that makes Facebook chat so portable.
Napster is a program that can was used on the desktop, although I don't know too much about the origins of Napster, I am pretty sure it was coded as a C++ or Java platform. As others commented about Visual Basic, it cannot be a visual basic program, as its too complex, and it would be far slower, if it was a visual basic application.

Hello,
I don't know about the movie and I didn't watch it either, but I am sure that today facebook is being developed further in PHP. I am 100% sure about that.
Of course the stuff on the client is still being done with HTML, CSS and Javascript.
Hope my contribution could be of any help!
